Sonntag endete die Bundesliga-Saison für die Leipziger mit einer Last-Minute-Pleite beim TVB Stuttgart. Die schafften damit etwas überraschend doch noch den Klassenerhalt, da Konkurrent Bietigheim wie erwartet gegen Magdeburg verlor. Für den SC DHfK Leipzig endete die Saison auf einem enttäuschenden 13. Rang.

Danach ging alles ganz schnell beim SC: Montag gab’s die Abschlussfeier mit den Fans am Schladitzer See. Dienstagnachmittag das Analyse-Treffen in der Geschäftsstelle mit Trainer Rúnar Sigtryggsson und Geschäftsführer Karsten Günther. Und das lief nicht gut für den Übungsleiter.
Was SPORT BILD bereits mittags schrieb, wurde am Nachmittag per Pressemitteilung bestätigt. Der Klub trennt sich von Trainer Sigtryggsson!
Dabei hatten die Sachsen erst im letzten Sommer bis 2027 mit dem 53-jährigen Isländer verlängert.
„Die Tendenz ging in den letzten Wochen in die falsche Richtung“, so Geschäftsführer Karsten Günther auf Sportbild-Nachfrage. „Wir haben versucht, diesen Trend gemeinsam zu stoppen. Das ist uns aber leider nicht gelungen“, Günther weiter. „Deshalb haben wir uns für einen Neustart auf der Cheftrainerposition entschieden.“

Die Niederlage in Stuttgart war die fünfte Pleite in Folge für die Sachsen, die eine katastrophale Rückrunde spielten. Nur zwei der letzten vierzehn Bundesliga Spiele konnten gewonnen werden.

Und für Trainer Sigtryggsson, der im November 2022 nach Leipzig kam, offenbar der Anfang vom Ende.
„Er ist nicht alleine dafür verantwortlich“, stellt Günther gegenüber SPORTBILD klar. „Aber am Ende ist uns sowohl die Puste als auch der Glaube verloren gegangen. Es ist eine Entscheidung, die mir ganz sicher alles andere als leicht gefallen ist. Rúnar hat diese Entscheidung aber sehr gefasst aufgenommen.“

Two freshman Georgia football players arrested on shoplifting charges
Georgia offensive lineman Dontrell Glover and running back Bo Walker were arrested for shoplifting at a Walmart on Friday, less than a week after the Bulldogs won the SEC Championship.According to the Athens Banner-Herald, the freshmen were booked into Clarke County jail in Athens on two counts of misdemeanor shoplifting. Glover and Walker were arrested Friday evening and released on $1,526 bond before 8 p.m.“We were informed of the charges and are currently in the process of gathering additional information,” Georgia spokesman Steve Drummond said in a statement. “This is a pending legal matter and we will not have further comment at this time.”Walker played six games this season and rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns.
