Dvanáct startů na mistrovství světa je pořádná porce…

Je to krásné číslo. Kdyby se mi zase povedlo se protlačit do bojů o medaile nebo nějakou vybojovat, bylo by to nádherné. Ale těžkých soupeřů je spousta, měl bych být ve stejné čtvrtině s Rusem Tasojevem, tak si možná zopakujeme souboj z mistrovství Evropy a budu mu to chtít vrátit.

V prodloužení semifinále letošního evropského šampionátu mu rozhodčí sporně přisoudili vítězný chvat. O to je motivace větší?

Já mám takové výzvy moc rád, když jdu do zápasu s tím, že mám soupeři co vracet. To semifinále bylo sporné, ale měl jsem tam dostatek času, abych ho porazil nějakým způsobem, který by rozhodčí uznal. Takhle jsem prohrál a mám obrovskou motivaci mu to vrátit, ale je třeba se soustředit hned na první zápasy, ne na potenciální souboje v dalších kolech.

Na mistrovství Evropy v Podgorici jste pak vybojoval bronz. Dokážete srovnat svou formu před dubnovým šampionátem a nyní?

Před i po mistrovství Evropy jsem se cítil skvěle. Posledních čtrnáct dnů si nepřijdu úplně ve stoprocentní formě, ale soustředění v Japonsku bylo naprosto skvělé a výkony, které jsem tam podával, byly pěkné. Ještě zbývá týden do startu, snad se dostanu do ideální formy.

Váš trenér Petr Lacina říkal, že zvlášť na druhé tokijské univerzitě bylo v tělocvičně i kolem 120 domácích judistů a dával jste jim pořádně zabrat.

On říkal Japončíci, ale byli to docela velcí Japonci. (úsměv) Dvě tři randori jsem absolvoval i Hjogou Otou, který bude startovat v Budapešti a to by byl docela těžký oříšek, pokud na zápas dojde. Ale je pravda, že zvlášť první týden byl jeden z nejlepších, co jsem v Japonsku předváděl, technicky i fyzicky. S takovým projevem věřím, že bych byl schopný dojít daleko.

Nicméně trenér Lacina míří s přetrženou achilovkou na operaci a není jisté, jestli do Budapešti bude moct odcestovat. Byla by komplikace, kdyby s vámi nemohl jet?

On je na sebe tak přísný, že věřím, že se stihne zotavit a dopajdá tam se mnou. A když ne, tak snad to zvládnu i bez něj, už jsem pár takových turnajů zažil. V Dauhá byl během turnaje suspendován (po nedovoleném koučování musel cestu za světovým stříbrem sledovat jen z rozcvičovny – pozn. red.) a také u mých zápasů nebyl.

Krpoš do mě hučí, ať zkusím veteránské soutěže, že mě bude koučovat. Já mu říkal, že bych se musel připravovat s mladými nařezanými závodníky a ještě bych se zranil. Tak jsem šel radši hrát nohejbal a přetrhl si při něm achilovku…

Dorazit by ale mohlo hodně českých fanoušků, Budapešť je blízko.

Určitě bude podpora výraznější než by byla na druhé straně zeměkoule. Vím, že se tam chystá spousta judistů, kamarádů, samozřejmě rodina. I tohle je motivací podat co nejlepší výkon, když je šampionát blízko a já se můžu ukázat před českými fanoušky. To je důvod, proč jezdím třeba na Grand Prix do Lince, kde se cítím skoro jako doma. Na jednu stranu je to svazující, na druhou vás ta podpora žene. Když je zápas vyrovnaný a přelomí se třeba do prodloužení, publikum pomáhá výrazně.

Chybět bude v Budapešti největší legenda vaší kategorie, Francouz Teddy Riner. Po olympiádě si dává volno a teď na sociálních sítích ukázal i svůj fotbalový um při exhibičním zápase v Nantes. Jak jste na tom vy s fotbalem?

Ten jeho gól před zaplněným stadionem jsem viděl. My si občas zahrajeme tady na Folimance, i když já už nechodím tak často jako dřív. Máme svá pravidla, kde ten těžší má trochu výhodu, s klasickým fotbalem bych to nesrovnával. Já jsem spíš nakloněný hokeji, v něm jsem si zahrál několik exhibičních zápasů.
