Arch Manning may carry the weight of a storied legacy-thanks to what his uncles Peyton and Eli achieved in college with their remarkable passing abilities-but he still has much to prove on his path to the pros. In this 2025 season, he’ll need to keep learning and improving if he hopes to establish himself as one of the top players in the NCAA.
Arch brings a different skill set that makes him stand out in today’s game. His mobility is a clear asset and was a stark contrast to last year’s starter, Quinn Ewers. That’s why Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is now focused on refining one specific area of Manning’s game: his completion percentage.

With increased chances to take the field this year, Sarkisian emphasized how critical it is for a quarterback to maintain a high completion rate-an area Manning has been working hard to improve throughout the offseason, especially when it comes to deep throws.
I think you know for us, you saw last year, the deep ball accuracy is something that is an asset of his,”… “You know, when he played for us, when the shots he took down the field were really effective, we saw the athleticism, right?
We saw the legs, his ability to use his legs to create touchdown runs and explosive plays and some of the biggest games. You know, for us this off-season, we’re about really knowing the nuances of this offense and then really starting to drive up that completion percentage, right?
Sarkisian firmly believes that improving this metric will also enhance Manning’s ability to contribute with his legs.
So some of those throws that we like to use on the perimeter, some of the RPO game, you know, let’s make sure that completion percentage is really high with that to go along with those deep ball throws, to go along with him utilizing his legs,
Sarkisian said.
Arch Manning’s chances to play for a title game
Last season, the Longhorns struggled to capture a championship game berth. Despite having a highly competitive roster and standing as a Pac-12 powerhouse, they fell short in key moments.
One of their main issues was the lack of an effective running game. With Manning under center, they expect a drastic shift. Last season he posted 939 passing yards, 9 touchdowns, and just 2 interceptions. Now, heading into 2025, expectations are sky-high.
A promising future for Arch Manning
While his last name brings credibility, Arch’s style is markedly different from that of his uncles, who made NFL history with spectacular numbers and championship titles. Now it’s his turn-first at the college level, and soon enough in the pros-to forge his own legacy.
He’s shown that he can handle pressure and often makes sound decisions that lead to significant gains for his team. If he stays consistent and continues to develop under the guidance of his coaching staff, he’ll be a legitimate Heisman contender and could help Texas mount a serious run at a national title.
