Mehr als zehn Jahre nach ihrem letzten Profiboxkampf hat Holly Holm (43) am Samstagabend ein starkes Comeback gefeiert.
Die frühere Mehrfach-Weltmeisterin setzte sich im Honda Center in Anaheim (Kalifornien) mit einem einstimmigen Punktsieg souverän gegen die 13 Jahre jüngere Mexikanerin Yolanda Vega (30) durch. Alle drei Punktrichter werteten den Kampf mit 100:90 – ein klares Zeichen der Überlegenheit über die volle Distanz von zehn Runden.

Für Holm ist es die Rückkehr zu ihren Wurzeln: Die heute 43-Jährige war zwischen 2004 und 2008 dreifache Weltmeisterin im Boxen, ehe sie ins MMA wechselte. Dort schrieb sie 2015 Geschichte, als sie mit einem spektakulären Knockout gegen Superstar Ronda Rousey (38) UFC-Bantamgewichtsweltmeisterin wurde. Sie war damit die erste Kampfsportlerin, die Weltmeistertitel im Boxen und Mixed-Martial-Arts gewinnen konnte. Anfang 2025 kehrte sie zum Profiboxen zurück.
Holm (43) posiert mit der mexikanischen Box-Legende Julio Cesar Chavez (62) in Anaheim. In der Stadt von Disneyland darf Kult-Figur Mickey natürlich nicht fehlen

„Ich bin bereit“, antwortete Holm nach dem Kampf auf die Frage, ob sie sich einen Titelkampf zutraue. Ihre Leistung gegen Vega ließ daran kaum Zweifel. Von Beginn an dominierte sie mit ihrer Erfahrung, Übersicht und Beinarbeit, ließ Vega kaum zur Entfaltung kommen. Ein harter linker Haken in der siebten Runde war einer der markantesten Momente des Kampfes.
[–>„Ich wollte den Kampf früh beenden“, sagte Holm noch im Ring, „aber ich war auch zufrieden damit, alle zehn Runden zu boxen.“ Die US-Amerikanerin steht aktuell bei Jake Pauls Promoterfirma „Most Valuable Promotions“ unter Vertrag – ebenso wie WBA-Leichtgewichtsweltmeisterin Stephanie Han, gegen die Holm nun als mögliche Titelanwärterin gilt.
Auch das mit Spannung erwartete Duell zwischen Katie Taylor und Amanda Serrano am 11. Juli verfolgt Holm aufmerksam. Für sie ist klar: Das Kapitel Profiboxen ist noch nicht zu Ende geschrieben.
„Ich bin einfach dankbar, diesen Traum weiterleben zu dürfen“, sagte sie nach ihrem Sieg.
