Der Punktverlust kostet ihn den Platz in den Top 10. Medvedev resümiert: „Ich habe in Halle gut gespielt, war wieder in den Top 10. Hier habe ich schlecht gespielt und bin wieder raus aus den Top 10. Ich muss bis Jahresende nicht viele Punkte verteidigen. Wenn ich gut spiele, kann ich vielleicht zurückkommen.“
Zur Niederlage gegen die Nummer 64 der Welt sagt er: „Ich hatte das Gefühl, ich habe gar nicht so schlecht gespielt. Ich sehe nicht viel, was ich besser machen könnte. Vielleicht im Tie Break besser aufschlagen. Es würde mich überraschen, wenn man dieses Jahr noch ein Spiel von ihm findet, in dem er so spielt.“
