There are many questions about Tom Brady’s decisions with the Las Vegas Raiders, especially regarding Geno Smith

There’s no doubt the Las Vegas Raiders will be one of the most entertaining teams to watch, following the arrival of Pete Carroll as their new head coach and Geno Smith as the new leader of the offense. The past few years have been dark, but at first glance, it seems the Raiders’ front office is finally heading in the right direction.

Tom Brady and the Raiders’ alarms go off after seeing their starting quarterback behavior

Several Raiders players have shared that during OTAs and mandatory minicamp, there’s been an energy that hasn’t been felt in the team for a long time. One of Pete Carroll’s great strengths is his extensive experience and excellent locker room management – above all, he’s a winner. With the Seattle Seahawks, he only won one Super Bowl, but he built a team that continues to compete even after his departure.

The mission for Pete Carroll and Geno Smith won’t be easy. Fans will likely demand results immediately, but you have to look at the division they’re in: the AFC West. That division includes Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs, the LA Chargers, and the Denver Broncos – all teams with enough talent to make the playoffs.

The Raiders have to prove they didn’t make mistakes in the Draft and free agency

Much has been said about the arrivals of Pete Carroll and Geno Smith, but one of the Raiders’ biggest decisions was hiring John Spytek as general manager. He knows how to find talent and has been the architect of several key offseason moves – like selecting running back Ashton Jeanty instead of Shedeur Sanders, who was projected to be picked earlier in the year.

Writers Hondo Carpenter and Matt Hladik of The Spun shared their thoughts on how the Raiders made good decisions – but now those decisions must be reflected in the standings and, most importantly, on the field.

“I think it’s just one of those situations where they haven’t had that respect in the NFL – not from other fan bases, not even from their own,” said Hladik. “The motto is ‘Just Win Baby,’ but the expectations of winning haven’t been there. They haven’t won consistently. They’ve had a few one-off seasons where they played well, made the playoffs, or something like that.”

“They haven’t built a winning foundation. And I think until that happens, they’re going to feel like they still need to earn the respect of others – and especially their own fans.”

So it’s worth keeping an eye on the Raiders. And with the way Pete Carroll is, fans have reason to be hopeful that the team can become competitive in the AFC West.

Real Madrid’s crushing loss to Paris Saint-Germain showcases long-lasting imbalance of Los Blancos’ roster
