Immer mehr Fahrerinnen bereichern die Formel E!

Beim Rookie-Test einen Tag nach dem E-Prix in Berlin (12./13. Juli) werden vier Fahrerinnen dabei sein – und zwei von ihnen haben neue wichtige Verträge mit ihren Teams abgeschlossen.

So gab Cupra Kiro bekannt, dass das philippinische Mega-Talent Bianca Bustamante (20) als feste Entwicklungsfahrerin verpflichtet wird – und schon beim Test in Berlin hinters Steuer steigt. Damit schließt sie sich den bereits bestätigten britischen Teilnehmerinnen Jamie Chadwick (27) bei Jaguar, Ella Lloyd (19) bei McLaren und Abbi Pulling (22) bei Nissan an.

[–>Bustamante ist bei Instagram bereits ein Star, hat dort 1,7 Millionen Follower. Dort schreibt sie ganz emotional: „So ein unwirklicher Moment. Ich kann immer noch nicht glauben, dass ich im Jahr 2025 diese Gelegenheit bekommen werde.“ Beim Rennen in Jakarta (21. Juni) durfte Bustamante zu den Fahrern Dan Ticktum und David Beckmann dazustoßen und wichtige Eindrücke sammeln. „Ich sauge alles auf und versuche, so viel wie möglich von diesem großartigen Team um mich herum zu lernen, bevor wir nächsten Monat für den Rookie-Test ins Auto steigen!“

Die Philippinerin startete in der W Series, bevor sie 2023 zur F1 Academy wechselte. Dort fuhr sie zwei Siege und insgesamt fünf Podiumsplätze ein – und stieg dann in die GB3-Meisterschaft auf.

Die junge Rennfahrerin war wie die anderen Rookie-Teilnehmerinnen bereits beim Vorsaisontest der Formel E in Spanien (November 2024) dabei, bei dem erstmals nur Frauen starteten – und zwar nicht mit alten oder eingeschränkten Maschinen, sondern in den aktuellen Rennwagen der elf Teams. Jedes Team musste mindestens eine Frau für das Rennen auf dem „Circuito del Jarama“ nominieren. Dieser Test soll auch im kommenden November wieder stattfinden.

„Wir wissen, dass es keine einfache Lösung für eine größere Vielfalt im Motorsport gibt“, so Formel-E-CEO Jeff Dodds (52). „Aber wenn wir Frauen in unserer Serie wirklich Gleichberechtigung, Chancen und Sichtbarkeit bieten wollen, müssen die Bedingungen für alle gleich sein.“

Jamie Chadwick sagte am Rande des E-Prix in Saudi-Arabien zu SPORT BILD: „Jede Möglichkeit, diese Autos zu fahren und Erfahrung zu sammeln, ist so wertvoll. Ich bin wirklich glücklich darüber, dass ich Teil davon sein durfte.“

Jetzt zeigt die Initiative Wirkung! Auch die Britin Abbi Pulling (22) hat mit Nissan einen großen Deal in der Tasche: Die F1-Academy-Meisterin des Jahres 2024 bekommt einen mehrjährigen Vertrag als Rookie- und Simulatorfahrerin bei dem japanischen Team. Nissan-Teamchef Tommaso Volpe sagt, er sei bei dem Frauentest „sehr beeindruckt“ gewesen von Pullings „Geschwindigkeit, Einsatz und Professionalität“.

Sehen wir bald wieder Frauen im Kampf um die Weltmeisterschaft? Mit Michela Cerruti (38/Italien), Simona de Silvestro (36/Schweiz) und Katherine Legge (44/Großbritannien) haben in der Formel-E-Geschichte bislang drei Pilotinnen Rennen bestritten.

Formel-E-Mitgründer Alberto Longo sagte vor dem Rennen in Berlin zu SPORT BILD: „Wir tun alles, was in unserer Macht steht, um den Frauen die Möglichkeit zu geben, ihre Fähigkeiten zu verbessern, denn am Ende müssen sie konkurrenzfähig sein und die Teamchefs überzeugen. Ich bin sehr zuversichtlich, dass wir, wenn wir so weitermachen, bald eine Frau in unserem Sport sehen werden.“
