Der Deutsche Handballbund (DHB) stellt Weichen und wichtige Arbeit im Nachwuchsbereich personell neu auf.
Der aus dem Amt bereits ausgeschiedene Jochen Beppler, der Chef-Bundestrainer im männlichen und weiblichen Bereich war, wird doppelt und namhaft ersetzt.

Handball: Ehemaliger Bundesliga-Coach wird Chef-Bundestrainer
Der Verband hat Beppler doppelt ersetzt und die Bereiche geteilt. Ex-Profi Michael Schweikardt, der bis Herbst 2024 den TVB Stuttgart in der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga coachte, ist neuer Chef-Bundestrainer des männlichen Nachwuchses beim DHB. Die ehemalige Spitzen-Handballerin Heike Ahlgrimm übernimmt als Chef-Bundestrainerin den Nachwuchs im weiblichen Bereich.
„Ich freue mich sehr, dass wir Michael Schweikardt für diese zukunftsweisende Aufgabe im DHB gewonnen haben“, sagt DHB-Sportvorstand Ingo Meckes. „Männlichen und weiblichen Nachwuchs entsprechend der spezifischen Umfelder und Bedarfe jeweils mit einer Person und voller Kraft zu steuern, ist eine strategische Notwendigkeit.“
[–>Meckes weiter: „Mit Michael Schweikardt und Heike Ahlgrimm setzen wir diese Erkenntnis in Taten um. Ich freue mich auf die Impulse, von denen unsere Top-Talente, die A-Nationalmannschaften und damit der gesamte deutsche Handball profitieren werden.“
„Ich freue mich riesig auf die neue Aufgabe und diese Rolle im Trainerteam des Deutschen Handballbundes“, so Schweikardt. „Die individuelle und konzeptionelle Arbeit mit jungen Talenten hat mir schon immer sehr viel Spaß gemacht. Auf den Start, das Kennenlernen der Spieler und den Austausch mit den neuen Kollegen bin ich schon sehr gespannt.“
Schweikardt und Ahlgrimm starten am 1. September in ihre neuen Jobs.

Indiana Pacers rookie Kam Jones was arrested on Monday morning after he was pulled over for driving erratically on an Indianapolis-area freeway while trying to get to practice, according to the Indianapolis Star.An Indiana State police officer allegedly spotted Jones driving around 90 mph and in an “erratic” way on I-65 in Marion County.
