O Palmeiras disputou recentemente o Mundial de Clubes, perdendo nas quartas de final para o Chelsea, por 2 a 1. E quem saiu como um dos principais culpados pela eliminação foi Weverton, que falhou no segundo gol do clube inglês, em uma bola que foi cruzada para a área, o goleiro errou o tempo de bola e colocou para dentro.
Mas, esse não foi o primeiro vacilo do ídolo palmeirense. Weverton vinha recebendo criticas por duas falhas recentes em jogos contra o Corinthians. Então, alguns torcedores do Verdão acreditam que o clube precisa buscar outro jogador para a posição. Atualmente, o goleiro tem 37 anos e seu reserva, Marcelo Lomba, já tem 38.
Torcedores falam sobre Weverton
Ao canal “PodPorco”, o jornalista Gabriel Amorim entrevistou alguns torcedores no Allianz Parque ontem, antes do jogo do Palmeiras diante do Mirassol, perguntando justamente sobre isso. E praticamente todos os palmeirenses acreditam que deveria contratar outro jogador. “Precisa trazer um goleiro novo. O Weverton tem muito crédito, mas está na hora de ficar um pouco no banco, muitas falhas. Vacilou muito contra o Chelsea”, disse um deles.
“Não tiraria o Weverton agora, é um ídolo, mas tem que começar um trabalho de substituí-lo a médio prazo”, disse outro torcedor, que sugeriu alguns nomes. “Eu gosto do Léo Jardim, o Bento seria interessante, o Gabriel Grando também”, disse, enquanto outro foi na mesma linha. “O Weverton é um grande goleiro, mas teve uma falha tremenda contra o Chelsea, precisa contratar outro.”
Já um palmeirense, acredita que só vale a pena contratar se vier um bom goleiro. “A gente não tem um substituto, então é difícil dispensar ele assim. Está chegando no fim do ciclo, ele está um pouco lento, já não é mais o mesmo, de se posicionar bem. Mas, para tirar ele, tem que ter um substituto à altura”, opinou. Por fim, um torcedor mais ‘corneta’ dispensou até a idolatria dele. “Um profissional não pode tomar aquele gol. Precisa buscar outro, esse não pega pênalti, não dá. Não é nem ídolo”, disse.

Depois, o próprio jornalista falou o que pensa sobre o futuro de Weverton no Palmeiras. Para ele, o arqueiro ainda pode seguir rendendo, mas uma sombra poderia ser interessante. “Ele deve seguir no time, mas acho que precisa de uma sombra, o Palmeiras tem que buscar um goleiro jovem que vá incomodar ele, assim como ele incomodou Prass e Jailson. Mas, acho que o Weverton ainda tem muita lenha para queimar, sempre se cuidou, deve jogar até uns 40, 41 anos”, opinou.

Weverton chegou ao Verdão em 2018, vindo do Athletico-PR, em um elenco que já tinha Fernando Prass e Jailson. Mas, rapidamente ganhou a posição e virou titular, se tornando um dos mais vitoriosos da história do clube. Ao todo, conquistou 12 títulos, sendo três Brasileiros, duas Libertadores e quatro Paulistas. Já são mais de 400 jogos pelo Alviverde, passando mais de 200 sem ser vazado.
