The ‘dirty’ Sterling Mahomes is being considered as a future signing for his parents’ team

Brittany and Patrick Mahomes have established themselves as more than just sports royalty – they’re crafting a family empire with deep roots in soccer.

Their daughter Sterling “Skye” Mahomes – adorably nicknamed “Dirty Sterling” by fans online – may already be eyed as the next member of the Kansas City Current roster.

Brittany Mahomes in love with shirtless Patrick Mahomes and his friends

Brittany, a former professional soccer player and co-founder of the Kansas City Current, has often showcased her children cheering from sidelines in Current gear. Sterling, born in February 2021, and her younger siblings Bronze (born 2022) and Golden (January 2025), have become familiar faces at NWSL matches.

Patrick, who joined Brittany as a co-owner in 2023, frequently shares his pride in them, posting memorable moments of Sterling at games and workouts. Fans have embraced Sterling’s nickname, citing a viral clip of her diving joyfully for a salty snack and then scrambling to rinse her hands. The playful moniker stuck.

A future Current star – already in the gameday stands

Despite her tender age, Sterling has been front and center at games, dressed in bright teal teddy jackets, waving flags, and soaking up the stadium electricity in Kansas City. Brittany captioned an Instagram Story: “My snuggle girl cheering on her Current!”

Sterling’s early presence and natural energy haven’t gone unnoticed by fans or front-office observers. After all, her entire upbringing has revolved around professional sports.

Speculation is growing that “Dirty” Sterling – a more affectionate nickname than serious scouting tag – might eventually receive honorary playing time or formal involvement with the Current. Not as a promotional stunt, but as part of the Mahomes vision of building a generational soccer legacy in Kansas City.

The team already embodies their family passions; Sterling’s natural connection to the game only strengthens that narrative.

Why the Mahomes vision could include Sterling one day

It’s easy to see how the concept fits: Sterling has already lived and breathed the Current – from Brittany’s co-founding of the club in 2020 to Patrick joining as minority owner in 2023.

She wears the team’s crest before she wears a backpack. If the club’s ties to the Mahomes family deepen over time, Sterling’s friendly reputation among fans and local media might make her an ideal ambassador-or eventual youth academy standout under the family’s banner.

This wouldn’t be unprecedented. Sports dynasties often begin with parental passion and evolve into on-field family legacies. Brittany’s own high-level soccer past (University of Texas-Tyler and pro experience in Iceland), combined with Patrick’s community investments and wide influence, could lay the foundation for Sterling’s future role – whether symbolic or athletic.

As the Current grow into their stadium and cultural presence, Sterling might eventually don uniform #27 or whatever the league assigns to honorary youth participants.

Regardless, her place in team lore already feels cemented – before she ever takes a professional pitch.

David Montgomery Carries Childhood Pain as He Returns Home For Lions-Bengals

David Montgomery will return home when the Lions face the Bengals in Cincinnati on Sunday. While the trip might remind him of some painful childhood memories, it'll also serve as a reminder of why the Lions running back is doing what he does.In an interview with FOX Sports' Tom Rinaldi, Montgomery opened up about his rough childhood experience in Cincinnati, which included moving to multiple homes and sleeping through cold nights. "My mom, she's a soldier," Montgomery said. "She worked double, triple shifts sometimes. But it was just never enough. There were nights where we didn't eat. There were times where the heat and stuff went off. We just turned the oven on as hot as we could. Sometimes, my brothers and I would take baths where we would be out of heat and we would just boil the water." ADVERTISEMENT […]

Hamilton given Singapore GP penalty as Alonso hits out at Ferrari driver

Lewis Hamilton has been given a five-second time penalty which demotes him to eighth behind Fernando Alonso at the Singapore Grand Prix.Hamilton exceeded track limits "multiple" times during the last laps of the Singapore Grand Prix after his front brakes failed and he tried to nurse his car home to the anger of Alonso. In a foul-mouthed radio rant, Alonso said: "I cannot f****** believe it. I mean, I cannot f****** believe it. I cannot f****** believe it. Is it safe to drive with no brakes?"For me, you cannot drive when the car is unsafe. Sometimes they try to disqualify me with no mirror, and now you have no brakes and everything is fine? I doubt it."Hamilton just held off Alonso by four tenths but his five-second time penalty put him behind the Aston Martin driver, whose seventh place is […]

After Tough Game 1 Loss, the Mariners Now Face the Cy Young Frontrunner

<!--> [--> Rowan Kavner MLB Writer <!--> --> SEATTLE – The Mariners had already waited 8,755 days since their last home postseason win. Now, that wait will last at least one day longer. This time, unlike their last opportunity to win a playoff game at T-Mobile Park three years ago, they managed to scratch a couple runs across. This time, the extra-inning affair only went 11 innings; it didn’t go 18. This time, it started the American League Division Series; it didn’t finish it. The Mariners still have a chance to make amends. But in their first home playoff game since a gutting marathon loss against the Astros ended their season three years ago, they were again left to wonder what could have been in a 3-2 defeat to start the ALDS. On Saturday night, the Tigers outscored, outmaneuvered and outlasted the Mariners, who remain […]

Bengals Have Cooled Tensions, Shouldn’t Look to Add a QB at Deadline

The Cincinnati Bengals' season was derailed in Week 2 when Joe Burrow got hurt, and most people would say they need to upgrade from backup quarterback Jake Browning.Julian Edelman says that's not the case.On "FOX NFL Kickoff," Edelman said Browning has shown that he's capable of enough success to start the rest of the season. He also noted that no quarterback is going to come in the middle of the season and build a good rapport with the playmakers around him quickly enough to make a big impact."I would not," Edelman said of trading for a new starting quarterback. "Browning shows that he's had success. He went 4-3 a couple of years ago when Joe Burrow got hurt then. He's been in this system. You're not going to bring anyone in that's going to know these players like Browning immediately […]
