Article arrow_drop_down

Two teams with designs on winning their division and hosting a series during the 2025 MLB playoffs will go head-to-head on Sunday Night Baseball when the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Detroit Tigers. Philadelphia is a half-game back of the New York Mets for first place in the NL East, while Detroit has opened up an eight-game lead in the AL Central. Sunday’s pitching matchup will feature Philadelphia’s Christopher Sanchez (9-3, 2.55 ERA) against Detroit’s Charlie Morton (7-8, 5.42 ERA). This will be the series rubber match after Philadelphia won Game 1 and Detroit won Game 2.

First pitch from Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia is set for 7:10 p.m. ET. Philadelphia is a -186 favorite (risk $186 to win $100) in the latest Phillies vs. Tigers odds, while Detroit is a +151 underdog (risk $100 to win $151). The over/under for total runs scored is 8. Before making any Tigers vs. Phillies picks, be sure to see the MLB betting predictions from SportsLine’s proven model. Bet on Phillies vs. Tigers and every other MLB game at DraftKings, where you can get $150 in bonus bets instantly with the latest DraftKings promo code:

New users can also check out the latest BetMGM promo code and FanDuel promo code, just to name a few to get even more value. At BetMGM, new users can get up to $1,500 back in bonus bets if their first bet loses.

Here are the model’s three best bets for Phillies vs. Tigers on Sunday:

Spencer Torkelson Over 0.5 total bases (-169)

The former No. 1 overall pick is enjoying the best statistical season of his career, and he’s recorded at least one total base in 67 of the 106 games that he’s played this season. He has an .801 OPS on the season and a .968 OPS against left-handed pitching. He’ll match up with a lefty on Sunday, and the model is predicting that he finishes with 1.9 total bases on average, rating this MLB player prop as a 5-star play.

Kyle Schwarber Over 0.5 RBI (+133)

Schwarber recorded his 87th RBI of the season in Philadelphia’s Game 1 win over Detroit, and he’s managed an RBI in 52 of the 109 games that he’s played this year. That alone is enough to assume a bit of value at this price, but his history against Morton should help take this play over the top. He’s 7-for-23 lifetime against Morton with two home runs, three RBI and a 1.017 OPS.

Christopher Sanchez Over 1.5 earned runs allowed (-170)

He’s a fringe NL Cy Young Award contender with that sterling 2.55 ERA and 139 strikeouts over 130 2/3 innings, but he did get roughed up a bit by the White Sox in his most recent outing. Sanchez gave up two home runs and four earned runs over 6 2/3 innings in Chicago to end a streak of six consecutive starts where he had given up exactly one run. He’s also had 10 other starts this season where he’s given up more than one earned run, and the model is predicting he gives up 2.3 on average tonight.
