In a recent meeting during a sporting event, Brady shared a revealing chat with Crow-Armstrong, in which he highlighted the importance of having good mentors early in a professional career.
It is important to have the right mentors, because they have already been through what you are going to face
Beyond inspiration, Brady offered a very practical perspective: long-term success depends not only on talent, but also on physical and mental resilience.
Some people have a natural physical gift, but they can’t bring competitive endurance to the office every day. One day they do well, the next day they do badly
According to him, all players can get injured, but those who succeed are those who recover faster and know how to maintain the competitive rhythm day after day.
Why is Crow-Armstrong so special?
Crow-Armstrong, who has already shown a unique combination of speed, power and defense, seems to be taking that advice seriously. And it couldn’t come at a better time: the young outfielder is projected to earn up to $200 million in future contracts if he maintains his level.

Pete Crow-Armstrong‘s career has not been an easy one. Although he was selected in the first round of the draft by the Mets in 2020, his first steps in MLB were discreet, however, he persevered and today, with the Cubs, he is leaving a mark that is hard to ignore.
With 25 home runs and 25 stolen bases before the All-Star Game, he joined an exclusive group that includes Bobby Bonds and Eric Davis. Not even Shohei Ohtani achieved that feat before the mid-season break.
Defensively, he’s shining as one of the best. According to Statcast, he is the outfielder with the most outs above average (+18), placing him among the top 10 defensive seasons recorded by that metric.
For Crow-Armstrong, talent is no longer in doubt, but becoming the best is not just a matter of talent and Brady knows that what separates shooting stars from enduring legends is longevity, discipline and a constant mindset.
Brady’s message is clear: talent takes you far, but commitment to the process is what keeps you at the top.
