Vasco e Botafogo se enfrentam na Copa do Brasil (Vítor Silva/Botafogo)
Foi realizado agora a pouco o sorteio das quartas de final da Copa do Brasil, com os oito classificados podendo se enfrentar, sem divisão de pote. Alguns dos apontados como candidatos ao título já foram eliminados, como Flamengo, Palmeiras, São Paulo e Internacional. Dos clubes restantes, quase todos são da Série A, tendo o Athletico-PR como “intruso”, que atualmente disputa a segunda divisão do Brasileirão.
Então, o sorteio colocou o rival Botafogo como adversário do Vasco nas quartas, com o Fogão decidindo em casa. As datas bases marcadas para os dias 27 de agosto (ida) e 11 de setembro (volta). E esse sorteio já mexeu com os torcedores, que se manifestaram nas redes sociais. A maioria dos vascaínos não ficaram felizes com o sorteio. “Acabou a Copa do Brasil pra gente, foi bom enquanto durou”, disse um.
Já outro torcedor, acredita que o Cruz-Maltino vai enfrentar o time mais forte que segue vivo na competição, fazendo uma cobrança por mais reforços. “Pegamos, talvez, o mais forte. E nada de reforços”, disse um vascaíno. Vale destacar que o Botafogo é o atual campeão da Libertadores e do Brasileirão, enquanto o Vasco está, neste momento, na zona de rebaixamento do Campeonato Brasileiro.
Campanha do Vasco
Em busca do bicampeonato da Copa do Brasil, tendo vencido a competição em 2011, o Vasco chegou nesta fase ainda sem enfrentar nenhuma equipe da Série A do Brasileirão. O melhor time que o Cruz-Maltino enfrentou, em termos de divisão, é o Operário, que está na Série B. Na fase anterior, por exemplo, despachou o CSA, que está na terceira divisão.
Na primeira fase, venceu o União Rondonópolis por 3 a 0, em jogo único. Depois, na segunda fase, repetiu o mesmo placar contra o Nova Iguaçu. Na sequência, passou pelo Operário nos pênaltis, após 2 a 2 no agregado. Nas penalidades, vitória por 7 a 6. Por fim, veio a fase de oitavas de final, onde poderia enfrentar algum adversário mais forte, mas acabou pegando o CSA, fazendo 3 a 1 no agregado.
Quartas de final da Copa do Brasil
Ficou definido também o chaveamento completo até a grande final. No caso do Vasco, se o Cruz-Maltino passar do Botafogo, enfrenta o ganhador de Fluminense x Bahia na semifinal, podendo novamente ter um clássico estadual. Alguns times como Corinthians, Cruzeiro e Galo, estão do outro lado da chave e só podem enfrentar o clube carioca em uma eventual final.
