Das verrät Rooney nun im Gespräch mit dem Sender „BBC Sport“. Demnach hätte er dem Verein damals mitgeteilt, dass er seinen Vertrag nicht verlängern wolle und einen Transferwunsch hinterlegt. In der Folge sollen drei Vereine an ihm Interesse gezeigt haben.
