The quarterback drama within the Cleveland Browns shows no signs of stopping-it’s still a complete spectacle under owner Jimmy Haslam. The Browns shocked many by trading Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals, a surprising move considering both teams belong to the AFC North division.

Joe Flacco started for four weeks with the Browns, and it was a disaster: only two touchdown passes and six interceptions. Moreover, the team’s lone win came despite him. That victory over the Packers was largely thanks to the defense and rookie running back Quinshon Judkins.
That’s how the Browns turned to rookie Dillon Gabriel, who made his first start in Week 5 against the Minnesota Vikings. He threw two touchdown passes but still couldn’t deliver Cleveland’s second win of the year. His next start will be against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jerry Jeudy says Shedeur Sanders has been a professional
After Joe Flacco’s departure and Dillon Gabriel being named the starter, the big question surrounding the Browns is Shedeur Sanders’ situation-whether he’ll get the backup role. However, head coach Kevin Stefanski has refused to commit to giving Sanders that opportunity, which has sparked plenty of criticism.
One of the key players in the Browns’ offense, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, commented that despite everything Sanders is going through, he has handled himself professionally: “He’s been doing a great job of being a pro.”
There’s no doubt Jerry Jeudy is a highly talented receiver, but he’s been affected by the Browns’ quarterback instability. The former Alabama Crimson Tide standout has just 15 receptions for 197 yards and no touchdowns through five weeks.
As for Shedeur Sanders, unless something unexpected happens, he will remain the third-string quarterback. It’s likely the Browns will promote Bailey Zappe from the practice squad to take over the backup role for now. This conclusion stems from Stefanski’s unwillingness to commit to Deion Sanders’ son, meaning the Browns’ quarterback saga is far from over.
