Las dos últimas derrotas ante el Oviedo y el Girona y la posterior rueda de prensa del CEO de Fútbol, Ron Gourlay, pidiendo unidad han aumentado la sensación de que en Mendizorroza se juega algo más que tres puntos. El técnico del Valencia ha explicado en rueda de prensa que este parón ha servido para corregir y mejorar los aspectos en los que su equipo no ha funcionado tan bien, aunque no será hasta la competición cuando se verán los resultados.
¿Puede hacer un resumen de cuánto ha servido este paró para corregir los problemas del equipo especialmente con los cuatro goles que ha recibido a balón parado en los tres últimos partidos? “El balance se puede hacer con el equipo en competición, el equipo ha trabajado tratando de mejorar en todos los frentes que puede mejorar. Haber concedido cuatro goles en los tres últimos partidos ha condicionado nuestros resultados y ha condicionado nuestra clasificación. Hemos seguido insistiendo, hemos matizado detalles, Pero el hecho de haber concedido esos cuatro goles no puede generar ninguna psicosis sino todo lo contrario, aumentar la concentración, aumentar la conciencia de la importancia de cada situación en un partido de fútbol”.
¿En un partido con cuatro bajas, qué priorizas a la hora de echar mano de un canterano porque el filial está con problemas? “El criterio ante una lesión es la posición. Si hay vacío en una posición se cubre con un jugador del filial. A mí me gusta trabajar sabiendo que el tercer jugador está compitiendo con el filial. Este año como club se ha dado un paso en aumentar los jugadores cedidos eso hace que el filial tenga que competir con jugadores que acaban de subir del juvenil A y les haga tener la experiencia les afecta más y la exigencia es más alta en la categoría en la que juegan. Nosotros valoramos la proyección del jugador y la necesidad posicional que tenemos”.
¿Qué opinión te merecen las protestas de los jugadores, promovidas por la AFE, por el partido de Liga en Miami? “Los capitanes me han hecho consciente de la medida que han tomado, es una forma de reclamar información, ese es el objetivo que tiene la medida y yo la medida la respeto”.
¿Cree que lo que sucede al Valencia se debe a una cuestión de entender los criterios, de engranaje a una cuestión mental o a la juventud? “Para mí la plantilla es joven pero preparada para ser competitiva. Los resultados en un partido se deben a dos variables, que están unidad: jugar bien y competir bien. Cuanto mejor juegas más te puedes conseguir al resultado que deseas, y cuanto mejor compites, también. Hay momentos en los que tú te impones al rival y hay momentos en los que eso no sucede no y el equipo rival puede imponerse. Y ahí es donde el equipo tiene que tener capacidad de sufrir, resistir y competir. Saber competir es saber sufrir, juntarte y pasar juntos esos tramos de partido.
¿Cree que los jugadores darán un golpe encima de la mesa? “Es un momento de que todos demos ese paso. De que todos nos centremos en competir y revertir esos dos resultados que no nos han dejado satisfechos a nadie. Jugadores, staff y a nadie”.
Cómo está mentalmente Copete para ser titular. “Yo a Copete no le tengo que preparar, él está preparado para asumir ese rol. Que Copete no haya jugado tantos partidos de titular ha tenido que ver con el mérito de Diakhaby que ha estado muy bien, que por demérito del jugador. No tengo que prepararlo porque está preparado”.
¿Qué le está faltando al equipo para tener continuidad? “La continuidad es siempre un reto. El equipo persigue ese reto. El compromiso de los jugadores persigue ese reto y conseguir resultados. La continuidad en el juego es importante, provocar que suceda cuanto antes y lograr mantenerlos el mayor tiempo posible. Pero no siempre se puede hacer así”.
La grave lesión de Pablo López, cedido en el Mirandés. “Le mando los mejores deseos, desafortunadamente tuvo una lesión en el descanso de un partido. Es un acción desafortunada y fortuita. Es una dificultad que aparece en una carrera futbolística, pero tenemos mucha fe en él. Estamos seguro de que lo veremos recuperándose y jugando con la camiseta del Valencia”.
¿Qué análisis hace del rival, el Alavés? “Es un equipo muy competitivo en su campo, te exige una entrega absoluta en el partido porque es la entrega con la que se va a vivir el encuentro. Es agresivo y presiona, es sólido con el balón. Como todos los rivales de la primera división te exigen dar lo mejor de ti y así sentimos que va a ser”.
