There were shades of David Tyree on the first play of the fourth quarter at Husky Stadium on Saturday in Seattle. Oregon wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan nearly had a helmet catch of his own.
It will go down as one of the best college football catches to not count this season.

But McClellan has a great case for why it should have counted.
With Washington true freshman cornerback Dylan Robinson holding McClellan’s left arm, the redshirt freshman wideout used his right one to snatch a pass from Dante Moore over his shoulder.
Then, as McClellan fell to the turf, he pinned the ball to his helmet. While the ball appeared to slightly move upon impact, it was unclear if the ground aided the catch.
It was initially ruled an incomplete pass. Oregon challenged the ruling, but the call was upheld after review. Instead of a huge third-down conversion, the Ducks were left with a fourth-and-6, on which they punted to Washington.

Oregon ended up with the 26-14 victory to likely secure a playoff spot, so all was well.
But McClellan, who came in with 22 receptions and 319 receiving yards this season, showcased his prolific potential with an eyebrow-raising no-catch Saturday against Washington.
