Japón, escenario de grandes finales: Senna y Prost, el adiós de Schumi…

el Gran Premio de Japón es uno de los escenarios que ha tenido momentos históricos de la Fórmula 1. En determinadas ediciones, el circuito ha sido testigo de grandes rivalidades como la de Ayrton Senna y Alain Prost en la temporada de 1989 y 1990, o del desenlace del campeonato entre Fernando Alonso y Michael Schumacher en el año 2006.

En 1989, en el Circuito de Suzuka, Senna y Prost llegaban como los principales contendientes al campeonato mundial de F1. En ese momento, el piloto francés lideraba en puntos la temporada y, para asegurar el título, necesitaba terminar la carrera en la mejor posición posible. Sin embargo, Senna fue el que obtuvo la pole position. Durante la carrera, el brasileño arriesgo todo por ganar la carrera y seguir con posibilidades del título, y terminó por afectar a Prost en la curva 1, lo que hizo que su rival se saliera de la pista y terminará por abandonar la carrera.

Mientras que, Senna se mantuvo en pista y finalizó la carrera con una victoria, lo cual lo mantenía en la pelea por el título. Pero esto no duraría mucho y la FIA, tras investigar el incidente, decidió descalificar a Senna por lo ocurrido, al considerarlo como una maniobra deliberada para perjudicar a otro piloto. Por lo que, el francés se coronó campeón del mundo de 1989, y el incidente quedó como uno de los más caóticos y memorables de la historia de la F1. Una rivalidad que continuo creciendo, y se volvería a repetir en el mismo circuito

Un año después, la rivalidad entre Senna y Prost volvería a protagonizar en el Circuito de Suzuka. El piloto de Ferrari lideraba el campeonato y necesitaba asegurar un buen resultado para el título. Mientras que el brasileño luchaba por el campeonato con McLaren. La única opción para ellos, era ganar la carrera y esperar que Prost no terminara en zona de puntos.

En la salida, Senna intentó superar al piloto francés en la primera curva, pero terminaría en un choque que dejó a ambos pilotos fuera del GP de Japón. Este incidente reflejaría un tipo de ‘venganza’ por lo sucedido una temporada antes, la rivalidad ya había llegado a su máximo nivel y cruzado los límites. En 1990, Senna logró su sexto título mundial de F1. Pero ambos incidentes en el Circuito de Suzuka, continúan presentes al día de hoy por todos los aficionados, debido a la tensión y rivalidad que representó para la categoría de automovilismo.

En 2006, Schumacher y Alonso estaban luchando por el campeonato, en lo que sería la última temporada del alemán con Ferrari. En el día de clasificación, Schumi luchaba por la pole position y realizó una maniobra de bastante ‘controversia’. Cerca de finalizar, el piloto se detuvo en una curva tras perder el control del coche, lo que provocó una bandera amarilla y que los demás pilotos, como Alonso, pudieran mejorar sus tiempos en la última vuelta, lo que permitió que mantuviera la pole.

Este incidente generó sospechas y críticas, ya que se consideraba que Schumacher lo hizo propósito para bloquear a sus rivales y asegurar la primera posición. Sin embargo, la FIA no pudo confirmar que la maniobra fue deliberada por lo que no hubo sanción para el piloto de Ferrari. En la carrera, Alonso ganó el GP de Japón, y ser terminó por coronar campeón del mundo. Asimismo, en 2006, el Káiser anunciaría su primera retirada dentro de la categoría, para después volver en la temporada 2010, pero ahora con Mercedes.
