O meio-campista Saúl saiu de férias com os demais jogadores do Flamengo depois de uma temporada vitoriosa, mas cansativa. No entanto, para o espanhol, o descanso está acompanhado de muita preocupação e dúvidas. Isso porque Saúl tem um problema no tendão do pé esquerdo, que o atrapalhou na reta final da temporada pelo clube.
Portanto, depois de passar por uma consulta com um médico de confiança na Espanha, Saúl não está certo de que precisa fazer uma cirurgia no local. Por conta disso, vai atrás de uma segunda opinião para saber o melhor tratamento. O departamento médico do Flamengo acompanha o caso de perto e deve apoiar seja qual for a decisão do meio-campista.
Na última segunda-feira, o meia espanhol esteve em seu país e ouviu duas possibilidades de tratamento: um mais conservador ou com cirurgia. Caso escolha a segunda opção, o tratamento pode deixá-lo de fora do time por até quatro meses. Assim, Saúl estaria fora do Campeonato Carioca e das decisões da Supercopa do Brasil, contra o Corinthians, e da Recopa Sul-Americana, contra o Lanús, da Argentina.

Osso saliente na região causa dor
Em seu diagnóstico, Saúl tem uma tendinopatia insercional do Aquiles. Em português claro, há um osso destacado no calcanhar que causa dor no jogador. Essas dores o impedem de fazer movimentos bruscos ou impulsos mais fortes para disputar uma bola no alto, por exemplo. Conforme informações do clube, são mais de seis meses reclamando de dores no local. Caso faça a cirurgia, o procedimento consiste em tirar um pedaço desse osso saliente. Ou seja, assim, eliminaria o incômodo e Saúl poderia voltar a desenvolver o seu futebol no Flamengo.
Saúl chegou ao clube na última janela de transferências e logo assumiu a titularidade ao lado de Jorginho. O espanhol logo ganhou o carinho da torcida por suas belas atuações, principalmente contra o Internacional, nas oitavas de final da Copa Libertadores da América. Depois, ficou fora de alguns jogos por conta de uma lesão e não voltou como antes. Mesmo assim, participou de jogos importantes e, na avaliação do clube, foi bem nos primeiros meses.
Em pouco menos de seis meses pelo Flamengo, jogou 24 partidas e conquistou os títulos da Copa Libertadores da América e do Campeonato Brasileiro. Além desses títulos, levantou os troféus do Derby das Américas e da Challenger Cup, na Copa Intercontinental.
