Lepší byli od samého začátku a když osmnáctiletý odchovanec Hanáků Šimon Fasner zvýšil ve 29. minutě na 4:0, bylo vymalováno. „Jsem rád, že jsem vůbec dostal příležitost, a samozřejmě že jsem se také trefil. Zvláště v Olomouci. S hokejem jsem tady začínal a rád se sem vracím. Doufám, že mi to tak půjde dál,“ prohlásil vítkovický útočník, který se v extralize trefil teprve podruhé a v probíhající sezoně poprvé.
Klíčem k úspěchu, jak dodal, byla podle něj zodpovědná hra dozadu. „Snažili jsme se neudělat nějakou zbytečnou chybu. To se nám dařilo a šance pak přišly sami. Jsme draví a takto nám to funguje,“ konstatoval Fasner.

Vítkovický kouč Václav Varaďa za zlomový moment označil přesilovku pět na tři, ve které jeho svěřenci přidali třetí gól.
„Kluci, co ji hráli, byli minutu předtím na ledě. Potřebovali si odpočinout. Proto jsem si vzal oddechový čas. Ovoce to přineslo. Umlátili jsme to v rohu, odkud přišla přihrávka, a pak následovalo skvělé zakončení, které zápas prakticky rozhodlo,“ měl jasno vítkovický kormidelník.
Své svěřence na něj neobvykle chválil. „Nerad to dělám. Musím ale říct, že vyjma pěti minut ve druhé třetině, kdy domácí měli dvě obrovské šance, hráli výborně a šli si za vítězstvím. Kdybychom však inkasovali, asi by se ze zápasu stalo drama. Naštěstí jsme to ustáli a pak v klidu dohráli, což je super. Bodů odtud si vážíme,“ podotkl Varaďa.
Poslední úspěchy ani páté místo v tabulce však nepřeceňuje. „Sezona je nesmírně vyrovnaná. Teď jsou Vánoce, jsme na vlně a kéž by to tak zůstalo. Paté místo po základní části bych určitě bral. To i s ohledem na náš rozpočet. Mnoho klubů ho má pětkrát vyšší než my. Nyní se však musíme soustředit na zbývající zápasy,“ dodal.
Lodivod Kohoutů Róbert Petrovický přes další příděl své svěřence moc neplísnil. „Soupeř byl lepší a hlavně efektivnější. Pohyb nám nescházel, šance jsme měli také, jen jsme je neproměňovali. Impuls v podobě snížení, které by nás možná nakoplo, bohužel nepřišel. Hrabat se v nezdarech nemůžeme. Musíme se postavit na nohy, zítra přijít do práce, znovu poctivě makat, zlepšit maličkosti a připravit se na další zápasy. Potřebujeme to zase překlopit a je jedno jak,“ konstatoval olomoucký trenér.
