Em programa esportivo “G4”, da Bandsports, o comentarista Arnaldo Ribeiro abriu o jogo sobre Richard Ríos no Palmeiras. Apesar de entender a irritação dos torcedores após a provocação na comemoração do gol na Libertadores, o jornalista defendeu a importância do volante para o elenco de Abel Ferreira.

Segundo o jornalista, o camisa 8 do Verdão “ficou marcado” com erros em momentos importantes, principalmente os últimos três Derbys. Porém, Arnaldo Ribeiro afirmou que jogadores com momentos críticos em duelos importantes acontecem em todos os clubes.
Por sua vez, o comentarista saiu em defesa: “Se você apagar os jogos contra o Corinthians esse ano, ele tem mais coisas positivas do que negativas”. No entanto, Arnaldo Ribeiro confirmou que há um envolvimento maior por parte de Richard Ríos no seu desempenho na seleção colombiana, como acontece com James Rodríguez.
Além disso, Arnaldo Ribeiro completou: “Ele é um jogador raro, por isso que ele tem possível interesse europeu nele. É um jogador que tem força, técnica e vitalidade. Além de tudo, ele consegue enxergar bem o jogo. É um volante raro que o Abel descobriu em um Guarani x Palmeiras no Brinco de Ouro, quando ele jogava no Guarani. É um volante que faz gol. Apesar das críticas pelos erros contra o Corinthians em 2024 e 2025,Richard Ríos recebeu um “perdão” de muitos torcedores. Em comemoração contra o Cerro Porteño pela Libertadores, o jogador colombiano pediu silêncio em comemoração, irritando os presentes. Logo após o jogo, o camisa 8 pediu desculpas no perfil oficial do Palmeiras.
Para muitos torcedores nas redes sociais, o pedido de desculpas imediato foi o suficiente para esquecer o incidente. No entanto, é possível existir uma cobrança maior por resultados justamente no duelo contra o Corinthians deste sábado (12), pelo Brasileirão.
