Einen Tag nach der bitteren 77:89-Pleite gegen Fenerbahçe Istanbul und dem damit verbundenen Verpassen der direkten Playoffs in der Euroleague ist klar, auf gegen wen Bayerns Basketballer in den Play-ins ran müssen.

Am Freitagabend standen die letzten Partien der Königsklassen-Hauptrunde auf dem Programm, nun ist die endgültige Tabelle fix.

Bayern schließt die Hauptrunde auf Platz neun ab. Das bedeutet, das Team von Trainer Gordon Herbert muss zunächst gegen den Tabellen-Zehnten ran. Und der heißt: Roter Stern Belgrad. Das Spiel findet bereits kommenden Dienstag (15.4.) zu Hause im SAP Garden statt.

Sollten die Münchner gewinnen, müssen sie ein weiteres Mal ran (Spieltermin wäre der 18.4.), um sich noch für das Playoff-Viertelfinale zu qualifizieren. Und zwar gegen den Verlierer (!) der anderen Play-in-Paarung zwischen Real Madrid (Hauptrunden-7.) und Paris Basketball (8.). Der Sieger dieses Duells zieht direkt ins Viertelfinale ein, trifft dort auf den Hauptrunden-Zweiten Fenerbahce.

Schon jetzt ist klar, dass die Münchner, sollten sie ihre beiden Spiele gewinnen, im Viertelfinale auf Olympiakos Piräus aus Griechenland treffen würden – das beste Team der Hauptrunde. Die Bayern wären klarer Außenseiter.

Trainer Gordon Herbert hatte das Final Four (23. – 25. Mai in Abu Dhabi) als Saisonziel ausgegeben, Marko Pesic war da etwas zurückhaltender. „Wenn ich das am 1. Juli gewusst hätte, hätte ich sofort unterschrieben“, sagte der Geschäftsführer am Donnerstagabend zur Ausgangslage. Sicher ist: Es wird schwierig, zum dritten Mal nach 2021 und 2022 die Runde der besten Acht zu erreichen.
