Many teams are looking to have the best talent at the quarterback position, and although Cam Ward seems likely to go with the number one overall pick in the NFL Draftto the Tennessee Titans, there’s still a player available who is already being compared to one of the best QBs in the league.

While many are debating where Shedeur Sanders will go, among the available prospects in the upcoming Draft is Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, who’s been receiving high praise. In fact, he’s drawing comparisons to Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jalen Milroe could very well be Jalen Hurts
That’s what NBC analystCris Collinsworth says, noting that not only does he believe Milroe should be a first-round pick, but that he also shares traits with another QB who also played atAlabama.
“With Milroe, I just keep thinking there’s a path to him being Jalen Hurts,” Collinsworth said in a Pro Football Focus mock draft this week.
The 22-year-old was the starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide for the past two seasons, and now he’s waiting for his name to be called in the 2025 NFL Draft. There’s talk that a team like the Green Bay Packers might acquire him, although the Pittsburgh Steelers are also said to be very interested.
“The more I was watching Milroe, he can throw it,” Collinsworth added. “He can throw it well enough. He’s Jalen Hurts throwing the ball. But god, this guy when he takes off and runs is like wow.”
That was one of his comments comparing Milroe to Jalen Hurts, the last quarterback to win a Super Bowl, and whose performance has been steadily rising in recent years.
Hurts also played for the Alabama Crimson Tide between 2016 and 2018 before transferring to Oklahoma for the 2019 season. He was selected in the second round in 2020 and, in addition to his Super Bowl ring, was also the Super Bowl MVP and a second-team All-Pro in 2022.
If Milroe can just follow that path, it would be incredible.
“So can we talk about him in terms of that one, two or three special plays that keep a drive alive that turn into a field goal?” Collinsworth said. “Now let’s turn it over to (linebacker) TJ (Watt) and the guys and let them try to win a game in the fourth quarter.
“The more I thought about it, it doesn’t even bother me if Aaron Rodgers comes in and plays a year, and you have Milroe sort of sitting there and learning from him. At the end of the year, you have Milroe. And I think (coach Mike) Tomlin has probably seen enough.”
