Caitlin Clark and Connor McCaffery may have found themselves focusing more on someone else’s career than their own in recent weeks.
McCaffery’s father, Fran, has had a particularly dramatic few weeks in his career as a college basketball coach but he does seem to have found a happy ending now.

Fran spent 15 years as the Iowa Hawkeyes head coach, which is also where Caitlin Clark made her name before moving on to the WNBA with the Indiana Fever.
After missing out on the NCAA tournament for a second straight year, the Hawkeyes made the tough decision to fire Fran. The 17-16 record during the season was not good enough and time came for a change.
Despite how emotional an episode this has been for Fran, he has managed to land on his feet from a professional standpoint.
A new job for Fran McCaffery
On March 27, he was announced as the new coach of the Quakers at his old school, the University of Pennsylvania.
During his time playing with the Quakers, he led the Ivy League in assists (105) and steals (51) as a senior in 1981-82.
“I am excited and honored to return to my alma mater and the city of Philadelphia to lead the Penn men’s basketball program,” Fran McCaffery said in a statement. “It is a program that I have fond memories of from my previous time there as a student-athlete and assistant coach.”
The dynamics of the family will have to change somewhat now with Fran heading over to the East Coast for his work, but Caitlin and Connor will undoubtedly be happy that he has managed to find a new job so quickly.
