The High Court of Justice of Catalonia issued a ruling on Friday, March 28, acquitting Dani Alves of the crime of sexual assault, for which he spent 14 months in pre-trial detention, and for which he was facing four and a half years in prison.
As can be read: “The sexual intercourse took place in a manner not consistent with the complainant’s account. From the evidence adduced, it cannot be concluded that the standards required by the presumption of innocence have been exceeded”.

Faced with this, his family’s reactions were not long in coming. His mother celebrated it on social networks, first with this phrase: “And saying: the time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the Gospel”. And then with a photo with her son: “Thank you my God for everything. Glory to God all honor and all glory to you my Lord“.
Later, it was the footballer who celebrated the sentence with several dances on TikTok, and now it is Joana Sanz who has published a statement on Instagram.

“I was singled out, insulted, threatened and persecuted for two years. As if I were the one in the dock,” she began writing, a letter in which she was happy about the sentence and defended herself against all the criticism she received.
“Despite so much media/public damage, I’m still standing, without lacking work as so many wanted to happen, faithful to my beliefs and defending what I think without being intoxicated by others. I invite you to stop downloading your hatred on people you don’t know at all, to document and educate yourself, don’t go biting your tongue that sometimes poisons,” she said. After this, the former footballer uploaded a video with pizza and music celebrating with her at his home in Esplugues de Llobregat.
For their part, Alves’ family, through Joaquin Prat, denounced: “Happy yes, but what about all the damage that has been done to us? Threats on social networks, loss of advertising contracts…”.
