Er war DER Grund, dass der BVB drei Zähler gegen FSV Mainz 05 holte (3:1). Zum ersten Mal in über 150 Bundesliga-Partien trat Nico Schlotterbeck (25) die Ecken – gleich zwei führten zu Toren!
Auch für den Innenverteidiger selbst war sein Ecken-Einstand offenbar etwas Besonderes: Nach dem Spiel postete Schlotterbeck in seinem Instagram-Profil mehrere Bilder des Abends. Eines davon zeigt ihn, wie er sich auf eine der Ecken vorbereitet, die zu einem der Tore führte.
Ein alter Bekannter aus der Bundesliga ließ es sich nicht nehmen, das Bild zu kommentieren – sofort versahen tausende Anhänger seinen Post mit einem Herzchen.

Der Ex-BVB-Trainer hatte sich einen Spitznamen für den Innenverteidiger ausgedacht und wollte die Welt daran teilhaben lassen: „Schlotterbeckham“, schrieb er – plus drei Händeklatschen-Emojis. Schlotterbeck spielte von 2022 bis 2024 unter Terzic beim BVB.
Natürlich eine Anspielung auf England-Legende David Beckham, der als Freistoß- und eben auch Eckball-Spezialist galt.
Schlotterbeck selbst sagte nach dem Spiel: „Wir wollten die Ecken zum Tor haben, darum hat der Trainer gesagt, dass bei Bayern München mit Holger Badstuber mal ein linker Innenverteidiger gespielt hat, der auch Ecken geschlagen hat. Im Training kamen sie dann auch tatsächlich ganz gut. Das habe ich heute auch probiert.“

Teamkollege Karim Adeyemi (23) „entlarvte“ Schlotterbecks Bescheidenheit: „Er hat im Training gute Ecken geschossen, im Spiel dann noch bessere!“
Auch Schlotterbecks Abwehrkollege Waldemar Anton meldete sich zu Wort – und verriet, dass das neue Eckenkonzept auch auf Hinweise aus der Mannschaft zurückgehe: „Wir haben ein bisschen dafür appelliert, dass Schlotti den Ball mal schlägt, weil er einen guten Fuß hat und mit viel Zug zum Tor schießt.“
