Großer Schock für Handball-Star Julian Köster: Der deutsche Nationalspieler musste sich am Samstag einer Not-Operation unterziehen. Der Kapitän des VfL Gummersbach wird mehrere Wochen ausfallen, teilte sein Verein am Dienstag mit.

Noch am Donnerstag hatte der 25-Jährige in der Daikin HBL auf der Platte gestanden, beim 33:24-Sieg gegen die HSG Wetzlar fünf Tore und ein gutes Spiel gemacht. Doch in genau diesem Spiel zog sich Köster nach Informationen von SPORT BILD die Verletzung zu, die keine zwei Tage später zu einer Not-OP führte.
Eine kleine Schürfwunde – wie sie jeder Handballer wohl nach jedem Spiel mehrfach hat – machte dem DHB-Star den Freitag über zu schaffen. Als die Wunde begann, heiß zu werden und auch ein Anitbiotikum nicht anschlug, musste schnell gehandelt werden.
Handball: Not-Operation bei Julian Köster nach einer Infektion
„Julian musste leider aufgrund einer akuten Infektion im Kniegelenk am Samstag notfallmäßig operiert werden“, erklärte Mannschaftsarzt Dr. Jan Vonhoegen. Der Mannschaftsarzt des VfL führte die Operation gemeinsam mit Prof. Dr. Sven Shafizadeh im Dreifaltigkeits-Krankenhaus Köln erfolgreich durch.
Kösters Trainer Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson: „Ich bin froh, dass unsere Ärzte die Infektion so schnell erkannt und behandelt haben. So etwas kann sonst auch ganz schnell in eine andere Richtung gehen.“ Nicht nur die VfL-Trainer hatten die Wunde im Blick, auch Köster selbst war wachsam, hatte dabei Unterstützung von seiner Mutter, die Anästhesistin ist.

Köster ist mittlerweile aus dem Krankenhaus entlassen, das deutsche Duell am Dienstagabend in der European League gegen Melsungen (20.45 Uhr/live bei Dyn/Anzeige) verpasst der Nationalspieler aber ebenso wie mindestens einen Großteil der restlichen Saison.
