Kann doch sein. Nachdem der neue Cheftrainer Pedro Calles (41) mit Siegen in der Euroleague und Bundesliga einen guten Start hingelegt hatte, war die Pleite von Heidelberg die fünfte Klatsche in Folge für den Nachfolger von Israel Gonzalez. Der musste nach der Overtime-Niederlage am 9. März in Ulm gehen.

„Absolut frustrierend“, sagte ein niedergeschlagener Yanni Wetzell (29 Punkte) nach dem Spiel am Dyn-Mikro. Sein Rezept: „Kämpfen und weitermachen.“
[–>Doch reicht das? Dyn-Experte Malte Ziegenhagen (33) sieht insgesamt drei Probleme.
1. Der Zeitpunkt des Trainerwechsel. „Ich fand den Alba-Move, Gonzalez durch Calles zu ersetzen, schon sehr mutig. Zumindest zu dem Zeitpunkt“, so der gebürtige Berliner Ziegenhagen.
Und er erklärt auch warum: „Ich war Dyn-Experte bei Albas Silvester-Heimpleite gegen Rostock. Und habe damals gedacht: Das war das letzte Spiel für Gonzalez. Doch der Klub hielt an ihm fest. Und es wurde ja auch besser. Und dann muss er doch gehen, nach einer knappen Niederlage in Ulm. Was sendet das für eine Botschaft ans Team?“

2. Der Trainer. „Ich bin bisher kein Fan von Pedro Calles. Ja, in Vechta hat er gute Arbeit geleistet, aber da hatte er auch Top-Spieler“, so Ziegenhagen deutlich. „Aber danach? Er schaffte es bisher nicht, seine Kultur zu etablieren, auch nicht in Oldenburg. Von einer guten Defense war da nicht viel zu sehen.“
3. Der Kader. „Diese Mannschaft hat bis auf wenige Ausnahmen wie Thomas, Hermannsson oder McCormack kein Euroleague-Format. Die Euroleague war eine rein wirtschaftliche Entscheidung, aber es ging da nie ums sportliche. Du kriegst ständig auf die Fresse. Die Saison in der Euroleague hat sie einfach fertig gemacht.“

Also geht die Saison den Bach runter? „Sieht im Moment fast so aus“, so Ziegenhagen offen.
„Allerdings könnte es noch mal etwas Kraft und Energie bringen, wenn nächste Woche die Euroleague-Saison vorbei ist. Aber Platz vier in der BBL halte ich fast für ausgeschlossen. Selbst Platz sechs wird schwierig.“
