Heute Abend findet in der Berliner Uber Arena (19.30 Uhr, MagentaSport) Spiel eins im Halbfinale (Best of seven-Serie) um die Eishockey-Meisterschaft statt. Bereits zum zehnten Mal treffen dabei die Eisbären auf die Adler Mannheim. Zuletzt siegten die Kurpfälzer 2001/2002. Die Adler sind also besonders heiß.
Mannheim, das hat die Serie gegen München gezeigt (4:2), ist eine verschworene Truppe geworden, die sich praktisch selbst aufstellt. Ein großer Strörenfried in der Kabine wurde mit David Wolf (35/inzwischen Kassel) vor der Saison aussortiert.
Als Meister nach Dallas?
Und: Mit Torwart Arno Tiefensee (22, gebürtiger Weißwasseraner) hat Mannheim einen Top-Torwart im Kasten. Er ist so gut, dass sogar im Sommer ein Wechsel in die beste Liga der Welt, NHL, bevorsteht. Schließlich halten die Dallas Stars die Rechte am Top-Torwart der Adler. 2023 wurde er nämlich vom NHL-Klub gedraftet. Tiefensee, als Deutscher Meister nach Nordamerika?
[–>Dafür müssen die Adler jedoch erst mal im Halbfinale die Eisbären besiegen. Und dort kommt es zu einem spannenden Duell: Eisbären-Torjäger Ty Ronning (27) gegen Adler-Torwart Tiefensee (22).
Ronning hat in neunzehn Spielen in Folge gepunktet und jagt den ewigen DEL-Rekord von Ex-Adler Jan Alston (26 Spiele in Serie). Trifft er auch gegen Super-Adler Tiefensee? Der Mannheimer Torwart hat in den Play offs eine Fangquote von 92,82 Prozent.
Ronning bescheiden: „Für uns steht das Team im Vordergrund, wir sind eine Familie und alle ziehen am gleichen Strang.”
Ausschlaggebend wird schon im ersten Spiel am Dienstag sein, wie Adler-Torwart Tiefensee die Sicht versperrt wird – damit Ronning trifft. Es gilt auch Strafminuten zu vermeiden, denn mit Matthias Plachta (114 Play off-Spiele) haben die Adler einen „Vollstecker” im Team. Vorsicht ist also geboten, Eisbären! Die Adler sind titelhungrig.
Am Mittwoch (19.30 Uhr, MagentaSport) trifft dann Ingolstadt auf Köln.
