El Principito, una corona antes de decidir su futuro

Ganar títulos importantes. Esa es la obsesión desde hace años de Antoine Griezmann. Hacerlo, además, con la camiseta del Atlético, el club en el que es el máximo goleador de la historia con 197 dianas. Levantar una Liga o una Champions que este año no podrá conseguir salvo milagro inesperado en la primera una vez que el Barça está a 9 puntos a falta de 27 por jugar.

De ahí que la Copa del Rey de este miércoles vive su partido decisivo de semifinales sea el ‘último’ eslabón al que se puede agarrar el 7. El Principito quiere una corona que no tiene tanto peso como otras pero que acabaría con su particular gafe de rojiblanco. Y es que las cábalas hablan que llegó al Atleti justo después de las dos Ligas de 2014 y 2021 y que la última Copa, la de 2013, la vio como extremo de la Real Sociedad. De lo cerca que tuvo la Champions en 2016 poco que añadir… eso sí, sabe lo que es ganar Supercopa de España, de Europa y Europa League.

Cumplir el objetivo contado es uno de los motivos por los que Griezmann todavía no tiene decidida su continuidad. Sabe que si el equipo se refuerza bien podría dar ese salto de calidad que le llevaría a tener los títulos más cerca. Por eso, en la reunión para comentar sensaciones del pasado lunes 24 de marzo se quedó abierta la puerta de la continuidad. Abierta que no decidida, por mucho que se empeñen en ir por delante de la noticia.

El presidente del Atlético de Madrid Enrique Cerezo repasó la actualidad del Atlético de Madrid y definió a Griezmann como “un hombre del Atlético de Madrid” que “hará lo que él quiera hacer”.

Con una familia plenamente integrada en Madrid, con un futbolista que acabará seguro en la MLS en 2025 o 2026, con la Copa como objetivo realista más allá del Mundial de Clubes de junio, con un futbolista a tres goles de los 200 pero en una malísima racha de cara al gol, con la certeza de que será titular sí o sí como siempre en las grandes citas… con todo ello, El Principito busca su corona… antes de decidir su futuro.

Y las ganas de revancha

No es baladí que su opción de ganar un título pase por el Barça, club que abonó 120 millones de euros en 2019 que acabaron siendo una nefasta inversión tanto para los azulgrana como para un Antoine que tuvo que volver atrás para avanzar al cielo rojiblanco. No fueron sencillos sus años en Can Barça como tampoco lo fue su regreso al Atlético donde tuvo que pelear y sudar sangre para ganarse el perdón de los suyos.

Lo logró a base de fútbol, talento y entrega. Recuperó el nivel de su brutal lustro inicial aunque atraviesa ahora una época de dudas por su bajón físico. Es indudable que sus 34 años le pesan más que a otros que han dosificado más que una estrella que es el primero en defender. También es indudable que una gran actuación ante el Barça cambiaría por completo la sensación de que esté Antoine está ya pensando en una salida… y no en acabar su particular gafe con los títulos.
