Valencia Basket
En cuanto a la participación de sus clubes en las competiciones europeas se refiere, el baloncesto español afronta una noche grande que espera convertir en histórica. Tres de ellos, el Valencia Basket, el Dreamland Gran Canaria y el Surne Bilbao Basket, se pueden meter este miércoles en sus respectivas finales de la Eurocup y el BAXI Ferrol también tratará de rematar también la gesta que le ha llevado hasta la final de la Eurocup Femenina en su primera participación en torneos continentales.

El Valencia y el Granca buscan una final española en la Eurocup. Los dos disputan este miércoles los terceros partidos de sus eliminatorias. Los taronjas reciben al Hapoel Tel Aviven lo que es una final anticipada (20.30 horas). Será un duelo caliente. Por lo que hay en juego, la clasificación para la final y la posibilidad de pelear por un billete para la próxima edición de la Euroliga. Pero también por lo vivido en el segundo encuentro, disputado en Samokov (Bulgaria), ya que el Hapoel no puede jugar sus partidos como local en Tel Aviv debido a la guerra.

Los israelíes ganaron por 96-91 (91-82 en el primer patrtido) y el club taronja presentó una queja ante la Euroliga después de que la expedición recibiera insultos, algunos de carácter racista, e intimidaciones. Jaka Lakovic cree que la clave es “estar centrados mentalmente, pues estamos en una montaña rusa de emociones”. En la última jornada de la Liga Endesa, los amarillos también ganaron en el último segundo ante el Unicaja. “Tenemos que controlar las emociones, recuperar y creérnoslo”, opina el técnico. La final española está a tiro.
La hazaña del BAXI Ferrol
En categoría femenina, el BAXI Ferrol sueña con proclamarse campeón de la Eurocup, rematando la hazaña que le ha llevado hasta la final en la que es su primera presencia en torneos continentales. Las gallegas visitan al Villeneuve d’Ascq (20.30 horas) con la ambición de levantar el 75-78 por el que perdieron en A Malata en el partido de ida. En la expedición ha viajado Elena Baldonedo, de sólo 15 años. Unos 200 aficionados acompañarán al equipo en una cita histórica. “Esa es ya la mayor victoria”, dice el entrenador Lino López.

También el Surne Bilbao Basket tendrá que remontar si quiere meterse en la final de la Eurocup de la FIBA. Perdió por 77-58 en Dijon, pero en el equipo nadie descarta la gesta pese a las importantes ausencias de los interiores Tryggvi Hlinason y Marvin Jones. “Está claro que se puede ganar por más de 19 puntos”, dice el técnico Jaume Ponsarnau. “Creemos de verdad que podemos”, insiste Melvin Pantzar, referente del cuadro bilbaíno.

Los azulgranas, séptimos, siguen en busca de los playoffs de la Euroliga. Los encarrilarían con un triunfo, pero al menos se garantizarían ya el play-in. Ese mismo objetivo persigue el Madrid, octavo, que recibe este jueves al París Basketball. Y el domingo, Clásico liguero en el Palau. Noche grande que se prolongará a toda la semana.
