Der HSV Hamburg will schneller werden!
Der Handball-Bundesligist verändert sich ab Sommer auf der Linksaußen-Position.
Am Donnerstag trifft der HSV in der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga auf den VfL Potsdam (19 Uhr, Dyn). Ab Sommer gehört nach BILD-Informationen Kaj Geenen (21, VfL Lübeck-Schwartau) zum Kader der Hamburger. Der niederländische Nationalspieler hat beim HSV einen Vertrag über mehrere Jahre unterschrieben. In Hamburg soll der schnelle Holländer offenbar den Druck auf Casper U. Mortensen (35, Vertrag bis 2026) erhöhen und ihm Dampf machen.
[–>Mit Tempo kennt sich Geenen (1,86 Meter, 86 Kilo) bestens aus, sein Cousin ist der viermalige Formel-1-Weltmeister Max Verstappen (27).
Handball-Nationalspieler kommt: HSV holt Weltmeister-Cousin!
Geenen gehörte im Januar zum Kader von Hollands Nationaltrainer Staffan Olsson (61) bei der Weltmeisterschaft. Sein zweites Turnier nach der EM 2024.
Nach Dani Baijens (26), der im Sommer aus Paris nach Mannheim zu den Rhein-Neckar Löwen wechselt, ist Geenen der zweite Holländer beim HSV.
Der viermalige Formel-1-Weltmeister Max Verstappen (27) ist der Cousin von Handball-Linksaußen Kaj Geenen

Handball-Star Baijens auf SPORT BILD-Nachfrage über seinen Landsmann: „Kaj wird ein sehr, sehr guter Spieler. Er spielt als Linksaußen in der Abwehr auf halb, er ist ein sehr guter Kopf.“ Der Spielmacher traut Geenen zu, Mortensen das Leben schwer zu machen.
Eine Stärke des fliegenden Holländers: In der Abwehr kann Geenen, wie sein künftiger HSV-Trainer Torsten Jansen (48) früher auch, auf halb decken. Das gibt Jansen taktisch mehr Möglichkeiten.

Ein weiterer Neuzugang erwartet den HSV bereits Donnerstag gegen Potsdam: Elias Kofler (24). Der österreichische Spielmacher (1,88 Meter, 82 Kilo) hat in Hamburg einen Vertrag bis 2028 unterschrieben. „Ich hoffe, dass Elias gegen uns nicht so gut drauf ist, damit wir die zwei Punkte behalten“, erklärt Jansen.
