Era un partido crucial para los intereses de los Lakers, que no dieron la talla, sobre todo en una primera parte nefasta (47-60) con LeBron James (8+2+3) y Luka Doncic (8+4+3) muy por debajo de su mejor nivel. Esa regularidad que les faltó a los angelinos sí la tuvieron los Warriors, que llevaron siempre la iniciativa gracias al sorprendente Brandin Podziemski, enchufadísimo en la primera parte (22 puntos con 6/7 triples) y que acabó con 28 puntos (2/7 t2 y 8/10 triples), 8 rebotes y seis asistencias. Es el tercer jugador en la historia de los Warriors, tras Stephen Curry y Klay Thompson, que firma un 25+5+5 con al menos 8 triples.

Los Lakers se mantuvieron a duras penas hasta el descanso gracias a Rui Hachimura (24+6+3), y en la reanudación reaccionaron de la mano de LeBron, con 33 puntos (5/8 t3), 5 rebotes, 9 asistencias, un robo y un tapón, y Austin Reaves, autor de 31 puntos (9/16 t3), 6 rebotes y 3 asistencias. Pero echaron de menos la habitual aportación de Luka Doncic, que esta vez fue una rémora para su equipo.

El exmadridista tuvo una de sus peores noches desde que aterrizó en la NBA. Firmó una primera parte espantosa con 8 puntos (3/11 tc y 0/4 t3) y no pudo enmendar su planilla estadística en la segunda.
