
Carlos Alcaraz viajó el sábado a Mónaco y un día más tarde ha empezado sus sesiones preparatorias en las pistas del Montecarlo Country Club. No podía tener un acompañante más ilustre ya que practicó con Novak Djokovic, doble campeón del torneo y residente en el principado monegasco.
Era la sexta vez que el murciano y el serbio entrenaban juntos. Antes lo habían hecho en el Mutua Madrid Open, Roland Garros, París-Berrcy, las ATP Finals de Turín y más recientemente la semana previa al Open de Australia. Por primera vez esta temporada, Alcaraz y Djokovic van por lados distintos del cuadro por lo que sólo podrían verse las caras en una hipotética final.
Carlitos, que no juega un partido oficial desde que perdió con David Goffin en Miami el 21 de marzo, no pisa la arcilla desde la final de los Juegos de París, con Djokovic de verdugo. Han pasado ya 246 días. Es por ello que en su semana de entrenamientos en Murcia, Juan Carlos Ferrero, según ha podido saber MARCA, alargó el trabajo hasta casi las tres horas. En cancha lenta los puntos son más largos y hay que acostumbrarse a los rallies.
El arte de deslizar
Eso se mezcló con fartlek (cambios de ritmo para mejorar resistencia y velocidad) y ejercicios de movilidad para volver a coger la costumbre de deslizar sobre el polvo de ladrillo. Samuel López acompaña a Alcaraz en el inicio de la gira y Ferrero se reincorporará para el debut en el Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell.
Cabe recordar que Montecarlo es el único Masters 1000 en el que Carlitos no ha estrenado su casillero de triunfos.
