Der SC DHfK Leipzig gegen den SC Magdeburg im Ost-Derby. Die kriselnden Sachsen gegen den amtierenden Meister vor 6000 Fans in der ausverkauften Quarterback Immobilien Arena. Und der Favorit wurde bis in die Schlusssekunde gefordert, gewann nur knapp 31:30.

Leipzig bot dem Favoriten von Anbeginn die Stirn. Beim 4:3 (11.) nahm SCM-Trainer Bennet Wiegert bereits die erste Auszeit, forderte: „Emotionalität!“ Doch die brachten auch die Gastgeber auf die Platte, verteidigten den Vorsprung bis zur Pause (14:13). Irre dabei der „Quarterback-Pass“ von Torwart Kristian Saeveras über das ganze Spielfeld in die Hände von Andri Runarsson, der zum 13:11 traf.

[–>Witzig übrigens: Bei der Seitenwahl im Rahmen der technischen Besprechung vorm Spiel zerbrach Schiri Nils Blümel die rot-schwarze Wählmünze, die beim Werfen auf dem Boden zerbrach. Zum Glück hatte sein Kollege Jörg Loppaschewski noch eine Ersatzmünze dabei. Magdeburg gewann übrigens die Seitenwahl.

In Hälfte zwei ging es auf Augenhöhe bis in die Schlussphase weiter – obwohl Leipzigs Abwehrchef Simons Ernst nach Videobeweis früh Rot sah (35.). Er hatte Gisli Kristjansson bei einem Abwehrversuch im Gesicht getroffen. Und fast hätte der SCM auch noch einen Punkt eingebüßt. Doch zunächst verlor Leipzigs Marko Mamic nach einem Steal den Ball, den er nicht unter Kontrolle bekam. Und als Matthias Musche ausgerechnet seinen 12. Strafwurf (zehn hatte er zuvor eiskalt verwandelt) an den rechten Pfosten nagelte, hatte Leipzig noch die Chance auf das 31:31. Doch letztlich blieb nur ein Freiwurf übrig, den Andri Runarsson in den Block haute.

SCM-Coach Wiegert sagte nach Abpfiff: „Es war ein typisches Derby. Die Energie, das Leipzig mit einem Sieg über Magdeburg die Saison retten könnte, hat man deutlich gespürt. Umso glücklicher bin ich, dass wir trotzdem zwei Punkte mitnehmen.“
