Pedro Acosta no ha tenido el comienzo soñado, precisamente, en el Mundial de MotoGP en 2025. Apenas ha sumado 16 puntos y es 13º después de los tres primeros grandes premios. Tampoco lo ha sido para su fábrica, KTM, que no ve a ninguno de sus participantes en el ‘top 10’. Entre esto y sus peticiones a la casa austriaca de soluciones para acercarse a Ducati, los rumores son una constante alrededor del Tiburón de Mazarrón.
Ya en el invierno, ante la crisis de la firma centroeuropea, se le relacionó con Ducati, a través del equipo de Valentino Rossi, el VR46. Luego, su nombre se unió como opción de futuro de Honda. En Texas, una conversación con el dueño del Prima Pramac Yamaha, Paolo Campinoti, desató más especulaciones. “Habla con Valera (su agente)”, decía Pedro. De hecho, hasta Kevin Schwantz, un ídolo familiar, le aconseja pensarse su marcha. Pero, en público, el murciano siempre ha negado todo. Sus palabras de fidelidad a la marca ‘naranja’ son una constante.
‘Su’ marca
En Austin, el bicampeón mundial volvió a ser rotundo en ese sentido. “Quiero ganar, eso está claro. La relación entre KTM y yo es más personal de lo que mucha gente piensa. He estado llevando estos colores desde que tenía 14 años; cumpliré 21 años este verano. He sido parte de esta familia durante siete años. No sería fácil decirles adiós“, dice en Speedweek. Y da un voto de confianza: “La moto alcanzará el nivel necesario, de eso estoy seguro”.

Acosta es contundente respecto a las posibles razones para irse. “Soy el único en este ‘paddock’ al que no le interesa el dinero“, proclama.
Sin presiones
El joven talento es igualmente tajante respecto a si KTM le agobia por su mayor responsabilidad este curso, cuando subió a su equipo oficial. “Tampoco siento ninguna presión real. Nadie me ha presionado desde el primer día en la empresa. Cuando estaba en Moto2, todos esperaban que ganara el campeonato en mi primer año. El año pasado fui el piloto que más caídas sufrió y nadie dijo nada. Empezamos bien, luego se puso más difícil y nadie me presionó. Sabemos que tenemos un largo camino por recorrer antes de poder intentar ganar el campeonato”, aseveró.
El español es claro respecto a lo que significa el estrés para él. “Alguien que está en paro y tiene que llevar comida a casa está bajo presión. Yo estoy aquí y puedo hacer lo que amo. Me gusta pilotar y, en ese caso, los buenos resultados suelen venir de forma natural. A veces es más fácil; a veces más difícil, pero si me mantengo tranquilo y feliz, vendrán”, concluye.
