Paco González le preguntó a Mateu Lahoz en el programa ‘Tiempo de Juego’ sobre el árbitro de la final de COPA, y el mediático exárbitro internacional explicó que Soto Grado ha recomendado que para sustituir a Medina Cantalejo en el CTA (Comité Técnico de Árbitros) vaya Fernández Borbalán, y esa sugerencia se la habrían trasladado a Medina Cantalejo.
En esos movimientos entre árbitros y exárbitros a Soto Grado le podría recomendar el recomendar a uno, por lo que podrían descartar que fuese él el árbitro de la final de Copa.

“César Soto Grado (44 años), ya viene siendo cuidado y se le había verbalizado que seguramente iba a tener esa final y que posiblemente se le iba a renovar un añito más. Que ojalá ocurra. Pero desde febrero que se encontraron en Madrid, ya hubo tres árbitros élite que se reunieron con el presidente de la Federación, con el de ahora. Y últimamente están habiendo situaciones desagradables con los árbitros.

Normalmente las finales de Copa, salvo que hagan algún homenaje como hicieron a Luis Medina, como hicieron a Alberto Undiano Mallenco, como hicieron a Carlos Clos Gómez en sus despedidas… normalmente va por año, es decir, si consigue la internacionalidad a los 3-4 años. Y entonces por añada, por así decirlo, porque la última tocó al Athletic y entonces que digamos que Munuera Montero saltó a de Burgos Bengoetxea en cuanto a la añada de internacional. Por cuestiones políticas, ya te digo.

Antes de febrero de que se encuentran en Madrid, la final ya estaba decantada para César Soto Grado, pero César Soto Grado parece ser que en algunas reuniones últimas ha dicho cosas que en este caso al presidente del CTA (Comité Técnico de Árbitros) no le gustan, a Luis Medina Cantalejo. Y parece ser que ahora Luis apuesta por de De Burgos Bengoetxea. Es posible que incluso el propio Soto haya estado involucrado en estas reuniones para promocionar a David Fernández Borbalán y Roberto Alonso Fernández.
Parece ser que esos son los últimos rumores y por eso unos medios daban por hecho que iba a ser Soto Grado, porque si os fijáis en las designaciones estaba ahí, pero ahora ha aparecido el nombre de Burgos Bengoetxea”.
