Das Handball-Final4 wirft seine Schatten voraus.
Am Wochenende spielen Zweitligist Balingen, Vorjahresfinalist Melsungen, die Rhein-Neckar Löwen, Sieger von 2023, und Rekordchampion THW Kiel in der Kölner Lanxess Arena um den DHB-Pokal. Ein Riesenspektakel, das bereits seit 1993 in der Form ausgetragen wird und jedes Jahr aufs Neue zu den absoluten Höhepunkten im Handball-Kalender gehört.
Handball-Torwart maximal unglücklich: Er hält alles, aber DEN lässt er rein!
Doch wer holt sich die Silberware für den Trophäenschrank? Einen klaren Favoriten gibt es auf dem Papier nicht. Das sieht auch Handball-Legende Stefan Kretzschmar (52) so: „Ohne respektlos klingen zu wollen: Außer Balingen kann das jeder gewinnen,“ sagt der Sportboss von Tabellenführer Füchse Berlin im Dyn-Talk „Kretzsche & Schmiso“.
Dennoch hat er eine Prognose: „Melsungen wird das Halbfinale gegen Balingen gewinnen, da bin ich mir relativ sicher. Das zweite Halbfinale entscheiden die Torhüter, und zwar ganz alleine. Späth/Appelgren (Löwen, d. Red.) gegen Wolff/Mrkva (Kiel, d. Red.). Wer dort überragend hält (…), wird dieses Spiel gewinnen. Ich sage: Dieses Halbfinale gewinnt der THW.“
Und wer setzt sich im Endspiel durch? Kretzschmar legt sich fest: „Mein Tipp ist: DHB-Pokalsieger THW Kiel.“
In der Liga sind die Zebras aktuell nur Vierter, haben nur noch geringe Chancen auf die Meisterschaft und verloren vor rund zwei Wochen das Topspiel gegen Melsungen (22:27) – dem von Kretzsche prognostizierten Gegner im Finale. Trotzdem glaubt er an Kiel: „Beim Final4 kann alles passieren. Ja, das sind Floskeln, aber es ist der Fall. Mein Gefühl sagt mir, dass der THW das Final4 gewinnt.“
Möglicherweise ist bei Fuchs Kretzsche aber auch der Wunsch der Vater des Gedankens und er denkt schon einen Schritt weiter. Denn: Schon am kommenden Mittwoch (19 Uhr/Dyn) gastiert er mit seinen Füchsen beim THW zum Topspiel in der Bundesliga. Ein THW, der nach etwaigen Pokal-Feierlichkeiten noch etwas müde auf der Platte steht, käme ihm da sicher nicht ungelegen.
[–>Kretzsches Talk-Partner Florian Schmidt-Sommerfeld hält übrigens dagegen. Er sieht Kiel zwar auch im Endspiel, glaubt jedoch, dass sie dort gegen Melsungen – wie in der Liga – den Kürzeren ziehen: Schmiso überzeugt: „Im dritten Finale der letzten Jahre (nach 2020 und 2024, d. Red.) holt die MT Melsungen endlich ihren ersten Pott, weil sie Kiel ja sowohl zu Hause als auch auswärts geschlagen haben. Ich glaube, sie machen das ‚Triple‘ perfekt.“
