Nach der 1:3-Pleite im Viertelfinal-Hinspiel bei Paris Saint-Germain sprach Aston-Villa-Star Matty Cash (27) beim englischen TV-Sender CBS über das Spiel. So weit, so gut.
Am Ende sorgte die Reporterin mit einer Liebesbotschaft mitten im Live-TV für einen kuriosen Moment.
Die Journalistin zu Cash: „Gib mir eine Umarmung, Matthew. Ich bin stolz auf dich. Ich liebe dich.“ Der Spieler entgegnete: „Ich liebe dich auch.“
Zugleich betonte sie am Rande des Interviews noch, dass sie das Spiel für ihn zu Hause vor dem TV aufgezeichnet habe. „Vor dem Spiel hast du mich gebeten, das Spiel auf dem Fernseher aufzuzeichnen, weil du es immer vergisst. Ich habe das getan.“

Nein! Die Reporterin Hanna Cash ist die Schwester des Rechtsverteidigers, war am Mittwoch für für die Nachberichterstattung beim Sender CBS zuständig. Seit August 2024 arbeitet sie für den Sender. Zu ihrem Aufgabenbereich zählen dabei auch die Interviews nach dem Match.
Cash führte das Gespräch mit ihrem Bruder ansonsten höchst professionell, analysierte die bittere Niederlage beim französischen Meister. Erst am Ende versuchte sie den polnischen Nationalspieler (17 Länderspiele) mit einer netten Botschaft aufzumuntern.
Sportlich lief es für Cash im Prinzenpark zuvor nicht so besonders. Villa ging nach einer halben Stunde durch Rogers in Führung aus dem Nichts in Führung. Nur wenige Minuten später schlug PSG jedoch durch ein Traumtor von Doué zurück (39). Zur Halbzeit nahm ihn sein Trainer vom Feld. Anschließend drehte Paris komplett die Partie und ging durch Kvaratskhelia (49.) in Führung. In der Nachspielzeit machte Mendes dann den Deckel drauf (3:1/90.+2.).

Cash kam im Sommer 2020 für eine Ablöse von 15,75 Mio. Euro aus Nottingham zu Villa. In der laufenden Saison absolvierte der Pole 29 Pflichtspiele. Sein Vertrag in England läuft noch bis 2027.
