The news that Eric Dane has been diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) has shocked the film world. Known for his roles in series such as ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Euphoria’, the 52-year-old actor announced his illness in an interview with People magazine.
“I was diagnosed with ALS… I’m grateful to have my dear family by my side as we navigate this new chapter,” he began. But he is still eager to continue with his work: “I’m lucky to be able to continue working. I’m looking forward to getting back on the set of ‘Euphoria’ next week”.

ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that affects motor neurons, causing progressive muscle loss, difficulties in speaking, swallowing or breathing. However, this is not the first actor to suffer from it, others have already suffered or are suffering from it.

Constantino Romero: one of them is the Spaniard Constantino Romero. The Spanish voice actor is one of the most remembered in our country. His illness became public after he retired from television, where he worked as a presenter, dying in 2013 at the age of 65.
Sam Shepard: This American actor and screenwriter, who appeared in films such as ‘The Right Stuff’ and ‘Buried Child’, kept his illness private until his death in 2017 at the age of 73.
Richard Glatzer: American director, screenwriter and actor known for ‘Still Alice’. He communicated his condition in 2011, dying in 2015 at the age of 63.
Linda Carlson: the American actress, famous for ‘Days of Our Lives’, died in 2021 at the age of 76.
