Die WhatsApp-Gruppe trägt den Namen „Mondial“ – angelehnt an eine Disco in den Niederlanden kurz hinter der deutschen Grenze nahe Aachen. Dort waren einige Spieler des 1. FC Köln mal gemeinsam unterwegs. Kein Regelverstoß, sondern ein Zeichen für die gute Atmosphäre innerhalb der Mannschaft.

Der Zusammenhalt ist im Endspurt um den Aufstieg jetzt womöglich Kölns entscheidender Pluspunkt. Trotz der vielen Kritik an Klubführung und Spielweise von außen, trotz einiger Rückschläge wie zuletzt dem 0:1 gegen Hertha BSC und dem 1:1 in Fürth – die Kabine des Tabellenzweiten (vier Punkte Vorsprung auf den Dritten Elversberg) hält zusammen. Dafür steht schon Kabinen-Boss Pacarada. Er spricht Fehler klar an, schreckt z. B. auch vor Kapitän Timo Hübers (28) nicht zurück, wenn es der Sache dient. Von ihm kommen häufig markige und sarkastische Sprüche. Immer mit dem Ziel, die Leistung, Konzentration und Lockerheit zu fördern.

Auf der obersten Stufe steht mit ihm der aktuell verletzte Maina. Er hat ein feines Gespür für einzelne Kollegen und die Mannschaft. Es kommt vor, dass er einen Mitspieler zum Essen einlädt, um den aufzurichten. Dass er spontan jemanden nach Hause fährt. Oder dass er einen Mannschaftsabend organisiert, wenn er merkt, dass etwas in die falsche Richtung läuft.
