NFL icons Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are already known for dominating the football field together, but now, they’re taking their chemistry off the turf and into the kitchen. The Kansas City Chiefs duo is teaming up to launch 1587 Prime, an upscale steakhouse set to open in the summer of 2025 inside the stylish Loews Kansas City Hotel.
Named after their jersey numbers – 15 for Mahomes and 87 for Kelce – 1587 Prime is a collaboration with the trendy hospitality group Noble 33.
The project will span 10,000 square feet across two floors, include several private dining rooms, and boast what’s been teased as a “jaw-dropping” meat display. Diners can expect multi-sensory dining experiences and subtle references to the football stars throughout the space.
Though buzz first started swirling in March 2024 with hopes for an early 2025 launch, the official timeline is now firmly set for this summer. Mahomes and Kelce are both hands-on in the project, viewing the restaurant as a way to give back to their Kansas City community.
“[It’s] just another thing that we want to bring to Kansas City, to be able to show our appreciation for the city, knowing how much they love their food and how much they love their football,” Kelce told PEOPLE in April 2024, calling the venture an “unbelievable opportunity.”
Mahomes echoed those sentiments, saying: “Travis and I have become frequent visitors of Noble 33 restaurants in other cities, so it only made sense to bring something special to our own community in Kansas City.”
A shared business venture could lead to early-season collaboration
But this partnership may go beyond just steaks and fine dining. With the two superstars co-owning the business, the nature of this joint venture will likely require regular communication, coordination and in-person planning and that could lead to even more bonding time between Mahomes and Kelce before the 2025 season kicks off.
Whether it’s menu tastings, promotional events, or design walkthroughs, the restaurant could naturally bring the duo back together earlier than usual in the offseason.
