Aaron Rodgers’ short-lived time with the New York Jets ended with just as much drama as it began.
After joining the team in 2023 following 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, the veteran quarterback’s tenure was cut short by injury and underperformance. With a 5-12 record in 2024 and little optimism moving forward, the Jets opted to part ways with the four-time MVP in February.

Rodgers’ bombshell about Jets coach backfires
Now, Rodgers is breaking his silence, and drawing serious backlash.
During a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers recounted a brief and awkward meeting with new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn.
According to Rodgers, Glenn dismissed him only 20 seconds into a conversation that he had flown across the country to have.
“I figured then when I flew across country on my dime there would be a conversation,”Rodgers said.
“We sit down in the office and I think we’re going to have this long conversation… and 20 seconds in, he goes, ‘So do you wanna play football?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’m interested.’ And he said, ‘We’re going in a different direction at quarterback.'”
Rodgers’ version of events didn’t sit well with many around the league, including Cowboys insider Mike Fisher, who didn’t hold back in a scathing critique of the quarterback.
“The narcissist is often a liar. Rodgers has always been the former. Now we know he’s a liar,”Fisher stated.
“Rodgers is once again exposing himself as a hypocrite.”
Fisher pointed out that Rodgers once claimed he would stop media leaks in New York but is now publicly revealing details from a closed-door meeting.
“The truth? He can’t help himself. If you’re his next coach, how do you trust him?”
Former Jets quarterback Chad Pennington defended Glenn’s no-nonsense approach, calling him a “true professional” and someone “focused on doing things his way.”
Glenn’s former teammates echoed similar sentiments, noting his commitment to structure and accountability as part of a broader effort to turn around the Jets organization.
While some may view Glenn’s handling of the situation as cold, others see it as a firm step toward a disciplined culture.
For Rodgers, though, the fallout suggests his time in New York will be remembered for more than just what happened on the field.
