Korir uspěl v Bostonu půl roku po triumfu v Chicagském maratonu a časem 2:04:45 se stal třetím nejrychlejším běžcem v historii závodu. Za 14 let starým traťovým rekordem krajana Geoffreyho Mutaie zaostal o minutu a 43 sekund. V cíli osmadvacetiletému vytrvalci gratuloval i starší bratr Wesley, který Bostonský maraton vyhrál v roce 2012. Korir byl o 19 sekund rychlejší než druhý v cíli – Alphonce Felix Simbu z Tanzanie.
