Maxx Crosby was recently named assistant general manager of Eastern Michigan University’s football program, becoming the first active NFL player to take on a collegiate executive role.
And in true Maxx Crosby fashion, he’s already shaking things up.

“Now that I’ve had some more years, I can take that next step,” Crosby said following the announcement. “I’ve been doing things behind the scenes for a while; but now, having the opportunity to have a bigger voice, a real title is truly all that matters.”
Crosby, who played his college ball at Eastern Michigan, has long been a vocal advocate for the program.
With the Eagles having not won a Mid-American Conference title since 1987, he’s determined to help change that. His message is clear: it’s time to bring championship energy to Ypsilanti.
Crosby rates Cam Skattebo over Ashton Jeanty
Now stepping into an executive lens, Crosby is already making his football brain known-most recently on Adam Schefter’s “The Rush” podcast. When talk turned to running backs in the upcoming NFL Draft, Crosby dropped a surprise pick, praising Arizona State’s Cam Skattebo over Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty.
“I love that guy… Obviously, I love Jeanty, but Skattebo – watching Skattebo in the [Peach Bowl] against Texas, I’m like, ‘This dude’s a f***ing maniac,'” Crosby said, visibly impressed by the 2024 campaign Skattebo put together.
And the numbers back it up. Skattebo rushed for a staggering 1,711 yards on 293 carries-a single-season record for ASU-while tacking on 21 touchdowns.
Known for his rugged style, relentless motor, and versatility, Skattebo’s “maniac” performance on the field resonates with Crosby‘s own playing identity.
Still, Crosby‘s preference comes as a curveball. Ashton Jeanty, considered by many as one of the top running backs in the 2025 class, has drawn attention for his explosive playmaking ability. But for Crosby, raw toughness and high-intensity football matter-and Skattebo‘s Peach Bowl showing apparently tipped the scale.

As the NCAA makes changes to its transfer portal calendar, it’s also making tweaks to the timeframe players have to transfer after a coaching change.The NCAA announced Tuesday that it was set to shorten the transfer window after coaching changes from 30 to 15 days and also alter when that window takes place. Per the Division I Administrative Committee, the transfer portal would open after a school hires its next head coach.The NCAA also officially announced that it had approved the launch of a 15-day single transfer portal window to begin on Jan. 2. The single window replaces the two transfer portal opportunities players have had previously. The NFL fined Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon $100,000 for his altercation with running back Emari Demercado in their loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.Gannon will not face further discipline."We have been in contact with the NFLPA and the club, which addressed the matter," the NFL said in a statement.
