Renato Paiva foi obrigado a escalar uma zaga diferente para o jogo Atlético-MG 1-0 Botafogo, realizado neste domingo (20). Isso porque Bastos e Barboza estão machucados. Com isso, Jair e David Ricardo entraram em campo.
“Temos alguns jogadores que foram importantes no ano passado, (mas) que não estão por lesão. Caso do Bastos. (Ele) é um pilar da defesa. (Foi) substituído por Jair”, iniciou o treinador português, em entrevista coletiva.
Jair permaneceu em campo do começo ao fim e viu o companheiro de defesa David Ricardo ser expulso. Renato Paiva elogiou o atleta.
“(Ele) tem dado conta do recado de forma fantástica porque é um menino com um futuro muito brilhante pela frente. O presente é importante também”, declarou.
Renato Paiva fala sobre reforços
O português também falou sobre a escalação de atletas contratados para a atual temporada do futebol brasileiro. De acordo com Renato Paiva, o jogador Rwan Cruz precisa de adaptação.
“(Ele) vem de uma realidade muito diferente na Bulgária. Precisou tratar de coisas pessoais e ficou um tempo sem treinar. Temos que adaptá-lo”, relatou.
Elias Manoel também. “A mesma situação. Vem da MLS (Campeonato dos Estados Unidos). Uma realidade diferente. Ainda não conseguem dar essa resposta, mas isso não quer dizer que não vão dar. Temos que perceber o momento de colocá-los”, explicou Renato Paiva.
O lusitano ainda falou sobre Nathan. “Chegou lesionado. Quando melhorou, voltou a se lesionar. Não pude contar com ele”, concluiu o técnico do Botafogo.

O próximo jogo do Glorioso é válido pela fase de grupos da Copa Libertadores. Na quarta (23), vai encarar o Estudiantes, a partir das 21h30 (horário de Brasília), no estádio Jorge Luis Hirschi, em La Plata.
