[–>Der Verteidiger in einem Twitch-Livestream: „Ich wurde von außen an meinem rechten Fuß getroffen. Mein Fuß blieb im Rasen stecken, dabei verdrehte ich ihn. Ich dachte: ‘Verdammt’. Mein ganzes Bein war taub. Vom Knie bis zum Knöchel. Ich wälzte mich vor Schmerzen herum.“
Passiert ist das Unglück in der 6. Minute nach einem Foul von Patrick Agyemang (24). Davies ging zu Boden, griff sich sofort ans rechte Knie. Seinen Knöchel habe er in diesem Moment nicht bewegen können, dieser sei komplett steif gewesen. Nach einer kurzen Behandlungspause kehrte der Linksverteidiger noch einmal kurz aufs Feld zurück.
Davies: „Offensichtlich schießt das Adrenalin in deinen Körper. Nach einer Weile dachte ich, jetzt geht es mir etwas besser.“

Doch nach dem folgenden Eckball war klar, dass es nicht mehr weitergeht. Davies: „Körperlich konnte ich mich nicht bewegen. Mental dachte ich, dass ich meinen Gegenspieler noch einholen kann. Aber mein Körper sagte: ‘Das geht auf gar keinen Fall.‘“ In der 12. Minute musste der Bayern-Star endgültig ausgewechselt werden.
Die Verletzung, die sich später als Kreuzbandriss entpuppte, sei „sehr bedauerlich“. Davies: „Aber am Ende des Tages ist es Teil des Spiels, für das wir uns entschieden haben. Verletzungen sind ein Teil des Sports. Wenn du Angst hast, dich zu verletzen, ist Sport nichts für dich. Aber am Ende des Tages liebe ich den Sport.“
