Turnerin Olivia Dunne (22) gab am Montag ihr Karriereende bekannt. Die US–Amerikanerin gilt als eine der bekanntesten medialen Persönlichkeiten ihrer Sportart.

Nachdem sie in der vergangenen Woche mit ihrem Gymnastikteam der Louisiana State University (LSU) im Halbfinale der nationalen Meisterschaft ausgeschieden war, teilte „Livvy“ mit nur 22 Jahren den Rückzug vom Leistungssport mit.

2024 gewann die Turnerin noch mit ihrem Team die US–Meisterschaften, nun macht sie Schluss. In einem emotionalen Video auf Social Media richtete sich Dunne an ihre Fans.

„Die Zeit vergeht wie im Flug, wenn man Spaß hat. Man sagt, dass man sich so gut fühlt, dass einem die Zeit zu entgleiten scheint. Und genau so habe ich mich in den letzten 20 Jahren in diesem Sport gefühlt.“

Olivia Dunnes Vermögen wird laut dem US–Online–Portal „On3“ auf knapp vier Millionen Dollar geschätzt. Auf Social Media hat die erfolgreiche Turnerin eine Reichweite von 13 Millionen Followern, davon acht Millionen allein auf Tiktok.

Dunne gewann auch abseits des Sports medial an Bekanntheit, nachdem sie 2023 und 2024 für das Sports Illustrated–Magazin im Bikini posierte.
