Florida jako Třinec. Přepnula do play off módu a Tampa se nestačí divit

Florida s českým gólmanem Vítkem Vaněčkem opět jen na střídačce skončila po dvaaosmdesáti kolech „až“ pátá ve Východní konferenci, zatímco její vyzyvatel třetí. Na druhou stranu rozdíl mezi oběma týmy činil pouhé čtyři body. Po výhře ve vstupním duelu prvního kola play off přidal druhou. Velkou zásluhu na ní měl brankář Sergej Bobrovskij. V souboji ruských gólmanů předčil tento šestatřicetiletý veterán o šest let mladšího kolegu jménem Andrej Vasilevskij.

Jak už to bývá i v zámoří, obrany hrály prim nad útoky. Tampa vystřelila na branku soupeře devatenáctkrát a Florida třiadvacetkrát. Hosté vedli už od páté minuty, kdy se trefil Nate Schmidt. Pojistku přidal střelou do prázdné Sam Bennett až čtyři sekundy před závěrečným klaksonem.

Toronto vede v sérii s Ottawou už 3:0, což znamená, že je jeden zápas od postupu. Po dvou domácích výhrách, když ve druhém případě zvítězilo 3:2 po prodloužení, navlas stejné vítězství zopakovalo i venku.

Skóre otevřeli zkraje druhé třetiny domácí, když přesně zamířil Claude Giroux. V téže části hry vyrovnal Matthew Knies a misky na stranu Maple Leafs převážil po půlminutě třetího dějství kanonýr Auston Matthews. Dohánět tentokrát museli Senators. To se jim povedlo a zápas poslal do prodloužení Brady Tkachuk. Utkání rozlouskl v jeho druhé minutě Simon Benoit.

Minnesota otáčí sérii s favorizovaným Vegas. Zatímco Golden Knights už měli play off jisté s předstihem, tak jejich protivník se do vyřazovacích bojů prodral až na poslední chvíli. Také proto, že po dvou zápasech s gólem na kontě střelecky mlčel Tomáš Hertl. Po výhře 5:2 Wild vyrovnali sérii a v prvním domácím utkání na ni navázali vítězstvím 5:2.

Do utkání vstoupili domácí rázně a v sedmé minutě vedli 2:0. Dvě branky přidali i v prostřední části a po čtyřiceti minutách svítil na ukazateli skóre 4:1. V poslední třetině se trefily oba celky vždy jednou. Minnesota pečetila triumf střelou při power play soupeře.
