There’s no overstating the pressure riding on the 2025 NFL Draft for the Dallas Cowboys and new head coach Brian Schottenheimer. With sweeping changes across the coaching staff and roster, the Cowboys needed to make their first pick count – and in Tyler Booker, they believe they’ve done just that.
Selected in the first round of the draft held in Green Bay, Booker, an offensive guard out of Alabama, is poised to step into a critical role for the Cowboys. And for good reason.

A Proven Collegiate Star
Booker leaves behind a decorated college career at Alabama, where he was a two-time First-Team All-SEC selection (2023, 2024) and earned First-Team All-American honors in 2024. A former top recruit, he turned down offers from powerhouse programs like Florida, Oregon, Ohio State, and Georgia to join the Crimson Tide – a decision that paid off handsomely.
At 6-foot-4 and 326 pounds, Booker is a physical presence who brings raw power and advanced technique to Dallas’s offensive front. His strength in both pass protection and run blocking immediately addresses a pressing need, as the team looks to bolster its rushing attack and protect quarterback Dak Prescott (or whoever leads the offense in 2025).
Booker’s arrival comes as Cowboys legend Zack Martin heads into retirement, and the rookie is expected to step in at right guard. He’ll line up alongside a promising young center in Cooper Beebe and All-Pro left guard Tyler Smith – forming a trio that could anchor the offensive line for years to come.
Strength Meets Skill
While Booker may not be the most athletic lineman in this year’s draft, his technique and football IQ are top-tier. His powerful hands and low center of gravity make him a nightmare for defenders – drawing comparisons to the dominance once shown by Tyron Smith in his prime.
Though he spent most of his college snaps at left guard, Booker has shown enough flexibility to transition to the right side – much like Beebe did in the opposite direction – a move the Cowboys are confident he can handle seamlessly.
In a fun twist, the left side of Dallas’s offensive line now features Tyler Smith, Tyler Beebe, and Tyler Booker – forming what fans are already calling the “Law Firm of Tyler, Tyler, and Tyler.” But catchy nicknames aside, the Cowboys are counting on this new group to protect the pocket and pave the way for a revitalized ground game.
Tyler Booker isn’t just Dallas’s first pick of the 2025 draft – he’s the foundation of a new era in Cowboys football.
